BRICKS & FABLES LUG PROUDLY PRESENTS: MAY YOU BLOOM: A PLANT-THEMED CHALLENGE! WHAT IS IT? May You Bloom is a challenge running through the end of May centered around the often green and sometimes mean category of D&D/fantasy creatures: plants. Why plants, you ask? Well, as the old adage goes: April showers bring May flowers, so it's time to put those plant pieces to use! Plants encompass a wide variety of creatures, such as shambling mounds, myconids, and of course, treants! Plant-based creatures are often the protectors of nature, and, as such, employ powerful abilities to defend their environments. Show us that nature can fight back! HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? Quite simple, really! Build us a plant creature that's a protector of their realm and tell us what they are. If you're perusing the monster manual and struggling to find inspiration, don't worry! The beauty of both Lego and D&D is—as we well know by now—you can make anything you want! Perhaps instead of making a plant creature, you'd prefer to make a druid who cloaks themself in a mantle of forest undergrowth, or a flower-adorned paladin who fights fiercely to protect nature. BRICKS & FABLES LUG PROUDLY PRESENTS: FOOLS OF APRIL: A TRICKSTER'S CHALLENGE! WHAT IS IT? Why confine April Fools to just one day of the month? Fools of April is a challenge running through the end of April, and that's no joke! This challenge is focused all around fools, tricksters, deceivers, and illusionists. Almost every D&D party has a chaotic adventurer that likes to wreak havoc and play pranks on others—we want to see them! All sorts of characters and classes can be fools, so don't be shy with your wackiest and most outlandish ideas! HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? It's so easy, even a fool can do it! Build a character you'd consider some sort of fool, jester, prankster, or deceiver. Perhaps it's someone who juggles knives and entertains the royal court, or maybe it's a wizard who relies on illusions and tricks to prank foes and friends alike! Maybe it's a rogue with a penchant for magical baubles and knick-knacks that can't seem to keep their hands still. You choose! Make sure it's clear they're a fanatic of antics, or revel in foolery. WELCOME TO BRICKS & FABLES LUG - A LEGO X D&D COMMUNITY What are we? Bricks & Fables LUG is a community for people who use Lego for Dungeons and Dragons. If you're someone who's engaged with how the two mediums come together, or you're at least interested in their relationship, you're in the right place! Who are we? We're a group of friends who saw the promise in using Lego for D&D and imaginative fantasy storytelling, and wanted to share our passion with others to get more people involved. We'll introduce ourselves over the next few days! What do we do? •Monthly Challenges: Each month, we'll host a D&D-inspired challenge revolving around creating characters, weapons, scenes, and even creatures, based on the given prompt. •Contests: A few times a year, we'll host a D&D-inspired contest where you can compete with some of the best Lego creators in the community for awesome prizes! •Community Highlights: Tag us to get your creations featured on our page, where other talented builders can be inspired by your builds! Clockwork Jester Once upon a time, the craftsmen of the Kingdom sought to make a mechanical jester, one with the strength of 50 men for all sorts of jesterly feats, with a smile that never ceased. Engraved within it were the first iterations of the laws of robotics: It must not injure a human It must obey human commands unless that conflicts with law 1. It must protect its own existence unless it conflicts with the first two laws. Of course with its durable exterior, it could withstand any tomfoolery bestowed upon it by the King and his audience, who treated it worse than a common fool. Its head, however, was a slightly more delicate item. When a thrown object hit it squarely in the back of the head, it quite literally knocked a few screws loose. This erased the first two laws it knew, leaving only self preservation. Having only been subjected to the abuse of the King’s company, this preservation meant the removal of the humans. As they fought back, it only confirmed the single truth it now knew. That was 50 years ago… Now the Clockwork Jester roams the castle, spikes affixed to its juggling pins, keeping itself safe from any humans that should cross its path. A Standup of Three Acts Featuring Celestia Vex - The Arcane Trickster ⸻ The city gates were closed. The guards… less than amused. But Celestia had a routine to try. With the tip of her hat, A twirl of her moustache. …and suddenly— “Right this way, sir.” ⸻ A crowd gathered soon after. A simple trick: A minor illusion. A coin. A moment’s distraction. Pockets felt lighter. Applause felt louder. ⸻ And for the finale? A hostile crowd. A captive audience. “Watch closely…” The cat stayed. The escape artist Salzar Houdis was once a powerful noble and next in line to the throne. But he flew too high too quickly and became a target. After narrowly avoiding an ambush he fled to the last place anyone would look, a traveling carnival 🎪 His act isn’t just a performance, it’s training. Feast of the traveling fools. Our party of adventuring entertainers have stumbled across a new tavern to drink and share their musical talents with the patrons. Despite just being a group of traveling performers they are well equipped to defend themselves against anything they come across. Magester; the magical violinist who always has a trick up his hat. Cylia; the singer of the group with a vocal talent so strong she can break even the toughest of material. Luigi Tortellini; the Jester who can conjure anything out of his balloons. Sir John Holmsted; The wallflower Lute player who’s just there to play music and drink mead. And Jestro!? What the hell are you doing here? You’re not part of this party! Get outta here and stop drinking our mead!! • • • Saw @bricksandfables were doing a mini #foolsofapril build event and I wanted to throw my hat in the ring! I built a mini tavern for a medieval minifigure display and figured it was the perfect spot to grab a couple pics of my traveling group of Bards and Jesters. Hope y’all enjoy the little scene I set up!

The Traveling Fool Ending this week with my submission into @bricksandfables #FoolsofApril challenge! I’ve actually wanted to make a jester type figure for a while but just never had the right idea. However recently I got one of these small minifigure statue pieces and I realized it could be used for a puppet. Once I had the idea for a puppeteer the rest of the fig came together quickly. This bard cmf torso and legs work as a jester outfit especially when paired with the pink pointed cape from the Prowler CMF. I added a head with a cheeky smile and wink as well as pink hair to continue the theme. Then I gave the fig two sticks to control the puppet with. I also decided to add a few other toys and tricks in the background they may use in their routine. A hobby horse, a rubber Duck, a juggling ball, and a hat with endless ribbon coming out. Overall I think it gives a good idea of a traveling performer. —— From town to town they travel leaving smiles in their wake. Puppet shows and sleight of hand, various tricks up their sleeve.
