I got a lot of fun comments about this sign I made for my display at my last 2 conventions, so I thought I'd take some better photos of it and share it with you. I started with the LEGO Message Board (#41839) and then went to town experimenting with all kinds of letter styles and color combos. I do appreciate how much my personality and style come through with the letters on this. Could I get any more on the nose with a "distorted" build? 🤓 . I know I have my favorite letter + color combo, what's yours? . FYI: This song might be my favorite song I've ever made. it's the first song on my "bargaining" album. If you like hip-hop, check out my music: "resnate" on any streaming platform 🎤 . #lego #artist #typeface #contrast #font #legoart #distorted #brickdistorted #afol #moc #colorful

My favorite photos + latest song from 2023! This last year was a big year of evolution for me both creatively and socially. . I've begun to understand and embrace my love of color and abstract art. The more I've learned about art history and color theory the more I've been able to appreciate what other artists have already done, and the more inspiration and direction I've discovered. Plus, I created my first mosaics! . I also met other LEGO fans in person, both in the wonderful LUG I joined (@charmcitylug ) and at my first ever expo (BrickFair). It's so dope to actually be part of these communities now! Big shout out to @brickhuntress and @virginia_bricks for some awesome build prompts to help me keep growing as an artist ❤️ . Happy 2024 my friend! . #lego #color #abstractart #colortheory #architecture #darthvader #starrynight #mosaics #afol #legocommunity #creativity

The first distorted build I made of the Statue of Liberty (#21042) took more planning than any of my builds to date! Whether it was the unicorn horns or octagon bar frame in the crown, the pentagon face, or the wide variety of curved tiles, it was difficult to find a specific color that could work for the entire statue or the entire base. It took nearly 2 months for me to finally get the bricklink wishlist pieced together to order pieces to build the orange statue with a blue/gray based. By the time it was built, I had a ton of ideas of alternate approaches for the statue and base, yet I still loved the orange statue in its own way...so why not build a 3rd? . . Ultimately, I ended up trying 4 more color schemes for the 3rd statue, but the grayscale ended up being the most fun...and I'm not gonna lie, it's such a great set to build, I didn't mind having to build the statue an additional 10 times 😉 #statueofliberty #legoarchitecture #brickdistorted . . 📸@cloudandcolor . #legoinsta #productphotography #productphotographer #toyartistry_lego #toyartistry #brickartist #legobuilding #ladyliberty #ladyliberty🗽 #statueofliberty🗽#lego #afol #legobricks #legoart #legoartists #legoaddict #legogram

"Number 7" wasn't really supposed to be its own piece. I had a 3-layer negative space idea I thought could be interesting using plates sandwiched between contrasting layers of tiles and plates of matching colors. Instead of black and white (which I've been using a lot), I wanted to switch it up with other contrasting colors. A red 16x16 plate immediately caught my attention, which meant using dark turquoise as the complimentary middle layer of wedges. After adding just a few shape combos I was enthralled, fell into a flow state, and ended up with this fascinating piece in about 30 minutes. . It feels different at a distance vs close up. It feels different if you focus on the white circle, the red, or the turquoise. It seems to always be changing and really captures a bold, fragmented, chaotic mood, quite appropriate to the complexities of how the world feels right now. I hope it captures you the way it has captured me 🫠 . #lego #abstract #complimentary #coloetheory #art

"Currents of Impermanence" is a commissioned piece I made for @bamwestchesterny for their grand opening in December 2025. It's the 2nd version of the LEGO Starry Night that I've created and it captures a bunch of ideas that I had slowly been collecting internally for some time. . I had so much inspiration for the commission that I actually created 2 different versions of this set simultaneously, and it took all the way until I got to the frame that I finally knew which one was the right direction for their store. The saturation of the sky and the hills give this a vibrant and contrasting background for the more striking aspects: the rotating swirl, the magenta circle, the asymmetric frame, and of course that flaming tree 🤤 . This piece captures the never ending state of change around us, which felt like a perfect fit for the kind of change it would take to open a new store. I also worked to capture the idea that whether destructive or constructive, change comes in many forms and it's always coming like a current. I've learned not to fight it but find ways to embrace it, ride the ebbs and flows, and discover the new inspiration and excitement that awaits on the other side. . I still plan to finish the 3rd version of Starry Night I created while building this one, but it will come a bit later and capture something different. It's incredible to me that Van Gogh could make something so beautiful that even recreating the LEGO recreation of his painting can be so inspiring. Art is amazing 🫠 . #lego #starrynight #abstractart #color #artist

So I'm 6 months in on a new project and I still don't know if it's going to work. It's required so much effort and energy already so just in case it doesn't pan out, I thought it'd be fun to share where I'm at and what the process has looked like. I often don't know quite where my projects are heading until near the end, and this is no exception. . I've been calling this Tangles or Squiggles thus far and the goal is to take some of my favorite colored line fragments and combine them into a large, flowy piece capturing a spectrum of colors, movement, and emotions. I had an idea of how to combine what I had, I made a quick sketch, and I set off on the journey in June 2025. I'm happy with the top with the gray scale lines crossing over into muted colors but I've been stuck on how to make the bottom connect together while being both unpredictable and organized. I've poured days into a variety of different versions of just the bottom and haven't even begun on the middle that pulls the whole thing together. . Each version I've done has taken 4-12 hours to complete and I'm already on my 7th version. Trying to draw the line connections or use something like excel haven't helped, I think I'll have to find the path with my hands. I'd love to hear any thoughts or reactions you have, they can only help 🫠 . Hopefully this peels back the curtain a bit on what my process looks like and how long some of these things can actually take. The final photo in the group is an example of some of the references/guides I've made to help me along the way. Hopefully I find my way to something that conveys the message and vision I have in my head/soul but we shall see! 🤞🏻 . #lego #inprogress #art #color #abstractart

An interesting fragment I made recently that I want to use as part of a larger piece but I haven't quite figured out what yet. This has a trippy effect if you scroll it up and down on a digital screen which I really enjoy. Also, one of these 4 white lines is not like the others, can you figure out which one? Even I struggle identifying the odd ball and it was my idea to begin with 😅 . These glitchy lines were inspired by some of the fascinating album art in the idm / glitch EDM genre that I've been falling deeper into this year 🎧 . I'm currently in a head space where I'm keeping the bar too high on what is worth sharing and I'm feeling behind on keeping up with all the stuff that's happening with my friends in the LEGO/Art/IG world, so here's my attempt to start getting back into the fray for the last #mosaicsonmonday of 2025! Hopefully this inspires people to make something cool 🫠 . #art #glitch #lego #inspiration

Some more drawings I've created this year. I've found drawing to be a powerful outlet for me when emotions are high or I need less structure than with LEGO or music. I'm still self-taught and learning so I haven't quite figured out if/how I can work color into these, but for now, they feel right in black and white. Huge thanks to @bricksandchaos for the incredible gift of French curves which have been such an awesome tool for me! . I'm nearly done with a LEGO commission that I've been hyper focused on for the past month or so (which I'm really excited to share) and I've started on my next album, so these sketches have been the only real completed work I've had recently. Do any of them speak to you? 🫠 . #drawing #abstract #blackandwhite #shapes #sketches #art #artist #glitch #complex #outlet #creativity

"Off" is my distorted version of the LEGO Vincent van Gogh Sunflowers (#31215). I was more excited to experiment with this than any set I can remember, and the process did not disappoint. I knew I had wanted to go with a pink masonry pattern in the background after I hadn't been able to use it for my Mona Lisa, so that was my starting point. The table colored in coral, dark orange, reddish orange, and dark red happened by accident initially and is definitely not a color combination I ever would expect to work together...but something about it just felt right to me. The blues in the vase were perfect for the 2 tone look I wanted, and then there were the flowers...🫠 . I tried just about every color I could think of for the petals but more and more of the grayscale flowers made their way in, and eventually I had to admit to myself that they just looked and felt the best. I bought a lot of pricey parts in oranges, blues, greens, and yellows that I ended up not using at all 🫣 Just a reminder to let the piece become what it wants to become and not force it to be what I thought I wanted it to be 🎨 . I'm excited to wrap up my contributions to #letsbuilddistorted with this piece, one that I had a blast making and am very proud of. Thanks again to @brickhuntress for inviting me to co-host a distorted building month for @letsbuildseries ! . #lego #sunflowers #vangogh #art #colortheory #abstractart #afol #vibrance #afol #moc

"Saprotrophic Rex" is both a recolor of the LEGO Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull (#76968) and a slowly evolving saprotrophic garden of LEGO botanicals. This felt like a great project to share for the #letsbuilddistorted challenge: it's both a simpler recolor (all black + white) AND the result of mixing in pre-existing flowers I literally pulled out of my existing botanical arrangements 🦖💀💐 . I had slowly been coaxed by a variety of people to share this, it's actually been sitting in my "unfinished projects" collection for nearly 2 years. I had originally wanted to make a Dia De Los Muertos inspired version of the T-Rex skull by building the skull in white with black accents and finding ways to have flowers and plants growing out of it...but I felt like I never really nailed the look in the skull I wanted and I didn't feel like I put enough effort into the flowers I chose. After getting some in-person encouragement and after the feedback I got after sharing a glimpse of it in a couple stories, I finally brought it to BrickFair in August. I even waited until the last possible moment to finally add it to my display, and it immediately got a big response. Multiple folks even called it out as their favorite piece in my display! . This is all to say, distorted building can come in all shapes and sizes and overthinking / staring at something you make for too long can make you blind to the way other people may connect with it. So just #createwhatyoulove and share it with the world! . Thanks to @brickhuntress and @letsbuildseries for inviting me to co-host this month's #letsbuild! . #lego #artist #trex #skull #diadelosmuertos #botanical #abstract #art #afol #moc #fossil #color

"Splay" is a single-session build I made for #letsbuilddistorted. It's my distorted version of a small modern train station from "The LEGO Architect" by @tomalphin . This is the 5th building from that book I've reimagined in color 🫠 I love how small yet diverse Mr Alphin's designs are and how they're all white, perfect for some quick, colorful remixes. I've added photos of 2 of my other distorted builds from this book, and a photo of the book and the train station model I based my build on. I wanted to show that not everything has to be big to be distorted, colorful, and fun! . To make this, I knew the 1x2 Bar Handle tile would be very limited in variety, so I checked my collection and only had 5 or 6 different colors, with only 4-8 pieces in each color, which meant not being able to use a single color on the walls. This was my starting point, where I paired orange with red on one side and brown with yellow on the other. . With that set, I played with some other colors and landed with blue + dark turquoise on the base. This left me with greens, pinks, and purples as the remaining unused colors on the color wheel, which I leveraged to make the criss-crossing roof tiles and the train tracks. Lime and Purple are complimentary on the color wheel, so they made a really fun alternating pattern on the tracks. To keep the roof tiles from blending and getting lost with the vibrant side walls, I used black tiles. I also used black on the bottom to help the tracks stand out more and give them some color space from the side walls as well. . Hopefully this shows an example of how to do some smaller scale and ways to use your part restriction and some guiding concepts to make something small and fun! Join me and @letsbuildseries to try out distorting some Lego builds! . FYI: Make sure you add @letsbuildseries as a collaborator and mention @brickdistorted in your posts!) . #lego #letsbulid #letsbuildseries #color #architecture #tomalphin #thelegoarchitect #afol #moc
