💚Our First Release is here! We're beyond excited to launch Briar Levit: On Design, Feminism, and Friendship—a long-form, illustrated interview with the brilliant Briar Levit (@briarlevit ). Starting at the 2017 Women’s March in Washington—a moment that, in light of recent events, feels like a haunting déjà vu—the conversation explores design’s intersection with activism, the role of education in a shifting conservative climate, and the evolving feminist landscape. How did it come to life? Bikini’s publisher-in-chief, Nina Paim (@paimnina ), spent two days with Briar Levit at the British Library in July 2023. Hours of conversation were carefully shaped by Bikini’s associate editor, Franca López Barbera (@frannnca ). Featuring over 160 black-and-white images, the book is designed by Tereza Bettinardi (@terezabettinardi ) and co-published with our sister publisher, Clube do Livro do Design (@clubedolivrodesign ), which just opened pre-sales for the Portuguese edition! Type by Flávia Zimbardi (@flaviazim ) and Phaedra Charles (@phaedra.xyz ). The English version debuts on November 22 in Portland. Booksellers worldwide: order now through our distributor, Idea Books (@ideabooksnl ). Sales on our website will open on November 26! 💚

Fall 2026 Workshop with Briar Levit! STUDY THE OLD, CREATE THE NEW Students will examine the work and context of a specific part of graphic design history, and consider how it affects the work they want to make now and into the future. They will then make a piece of work that reflects on their research. This course is restricted to Graphic Design, Art Practice and Art & Design majors. Day long sessions include and hour break for lunch. Previous computer graphics experience is required. This is a three day workshop. Students must be able to attend all three days.

Tonight I was reminded of just how much collaboration @terezabettinardi and I have done and why she is one of my favorite living designers. Her work is 🌈✨!

I coincidentally found this book (1937) the day before @terezabettinardi , @sean_samoheyl , and I planned to hit Timberline Lodge. It’s a very nice homage to the people of the WPA who built this beautiful place, from clearing the roads, to building the furniture, weaving the textiles and decking the walls. This hotel is both grand and at the same time so warm and cozy. We are lucky to have it.

@terezabettinardi came to advising with me today, shared her work, and chatted with Ezra.📚 @lulusandhaus ’ book, my fave history book in the foreground, along with a photocopy of my most-referenced page of @ellenlupton ’s Thinking with Type. I show this to students constantly. 🔡

Overall, a pretty honest booklet from the American Medical Association about puberty published in 1968. It assumes teens are having sex with others and themselves and tries to instill a sense of pride in self. Not surprisingly, it’s all heterosexual in context and only features white kids save one image of Black teens. Is anyone researching graphic representations of sex ed? Could be interesting!
