Spanning architecture 100’ across a canal is not common, but it sure is fun. The CAP Water Education Center is starting to take shape in northern Phoenix at the Central Arizona Project’s headquarters. This facility is designed to elevate water consciousness for all visitors - whether you are exploring the educational exhibits, hovering over Colorado River water while navigating the 9,000 sq foot shaded bridge or, experiencing a rain event that at once celebrates the wisdom of those who lived here before us, while passively irrigating the desert garden that shades your arrival.
Glad to be working with the great CAP and Mortenson team on this one-of-a-kind project. Hope to see you there in early 2027.
Over here living Mark Twain’s advice about not allowing school to interfere with our education, we took the day away from our desks to run around the dunes at White Sands National Park. Why? To watch nature play with light and shadow, relish in the textures, witness the heat absorption and the sun’s reflection, climb the grading, note the resilience of indigenous plants, to know the the thrill of hurling yourself down a hill.
