Ellis Kauffman, Project Architect
Ellis has been with Breck Studio for over six years and is central to the technical development and execution of the studio’s work. He supports projects across all phases, ensuring coordination, clarity, and consistency from early design through construction.
He oversees day-to-day project coordination, working closely with the principal architect, clients, and consultants to turn design concepts into well-resolved construction documents. Ellis also leads the studio’s use of advanced visualization tools, including 3D modeling and virtual reality, helping both the team and clients better understand design intent and detail.
An Austin native, Ellis earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside the studio, he restores vintage motorcycles and cars, an interest that mirrors his precise, hands-on approach to building.

Breck Craparo, AIA, Principal Architect
Breck leads the studio and each project from first sketch to final completion. As both designer and primary client point of contact, he emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and accountability throughout the process. His approach is grounded in building strong teams and long-term relationships, with a focus on clarity and follow-through at every stage.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Woodbury University in San Diego and began his career at Olson Kundig in Seattle, where he developed a deep respect for craft and thoughtful, well-made buildings. He later joined Dick Clark + Associates in Austin, serving as project architect on high-end residential and hospitality work. While technically formative, that experience reinforced his desire to focus on residential architecture and close client collaboration.
Breck founded Breck Studio in 2018 to pursue ambitious residential projects guided by clear leadership and careful attention to detail. The studio has grown steadily through referrals and repeat clients, earning a reputation for a hands-on process and work built to endure.

Mary Ann Fergie, Project Architect
Mary Ann has been part of Breck Studio for more than five years, working closely with the principal architect to move projects through design, technical refinement, and documentation. Her role centers on translating design intent into clear, accurate digital models and drawing sets that support smooth execution from design development through construction.
She brings structure and consistency to project documentation, carefully aligning design goals with consultant input and construction requirements. Her steady, detail-driven approach plays a key role in the successful delivery of complex residential work.
Mary Ann earned her degree from the University of Texas and grew up in Corpus Christi before settling in Austin. Extensive travel throughout Europe, Asia, and South America shaped her interest in architecture. Outside the office, she spends her time running, baking, and making art.
