Throwback to late November 2020! Beatboxing cipher in Katwe slum with some of the Breakdance Project Uganda members. Here’s the 12 year old female beatboxer, Kindiki Vivian doing her thing. Vivian is multi-talented and skilled artist. Besides beatboxing, she does breaking, Afro dance, crotchet and rap. She also working on learning the foundations of popping and ballet. She’s is one the leaders in our organization/ community. She teaches, performs and also moderates public speaking sessions. She joined Breakdance Project Uganda at 6 years of age. She has learned and shared so much over the years. She lives in Kevina slum with her mum and siblings. She has inspired many young people from her community to get into the arts as well and a good number of them joined our organization. Breakdance Project Uganda’s free weekly visual art classes. For a while we’ve been running visual art classes every Friday from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, at Sharing youth centre, Nsambya, Kampala. The sessions attract young people from various communities. They are free of charge and open to everyone. Participants/ students get free materials. Some of the art pieces they’ve worked on will be exhibited at our big annual community event “Hiphop for Society” (HH4S2023) on 29th January 2023. (See flyer on our page for event details).
