As Pride Month comes to a close, we wanted to share a video of this year’s PRIDE Parade and After-Party, created by one of our Interns, Brooke Zevon. Although June may be almost over, Pride continues all year. Now more than ever, we need pride, we need community, and we need to continue to show up for each other. #Pride25SavesLives 🌈 Here’s what @brooke_.z has to say about her video: “I made this video to highlight our amazing community and share what is most meaningful about Pride. To me, pride is authenticity, vulnerability, and community. It is recognizing the impact of LGBTQIA+ trailblazers throughout history, and honoring their commitments to the movement through our own action, advocacy, and acceptance. To have my first ever Pride parade be one filled with so much love, pure joy, and dedication to the community (even in the pouring rain), has been beyond powerful. In the spirit of Bayard Rustin, our queer community “spoke truth to power” as we shared a meaningful moment in intimate conversation connectin’ CD-12 Congressional candidates with our LGBTQIA+ youth, families, & seniors here @RustinCenter HQ... Whilst no one could evah replace our Beloved @repbonnie both across our great state of New Jersey @njgov as well as in the shinin’ city upon the Hill, we hope & expect to continue our strong relationship & purposeful journey with whomever will next best represent all our fab folx across that rainbow spectrum at this pivotal moment in our nation’s history. Further & more importantly, we will absolutely hold that individual to their promises of preservin’ & protectin’ equity & equality for all of us in all of our beautifully diverse communities… As our inspirational namesake also espoused, “The proof that one believes is in action”! To be crystal, our Center is indeed a non-profit so we do not ever endorse nor support any one candidate in any race, we just ask you to consider who will be best serve our community & who will amplify YOUR voice as we all deserve to to be seen & heard & recognized & respected!
