Embarked on a rolling mountain ride this past week in this misty collab with the wonderful @caroline_lizarraga . Painting this evoked fond memories of infinity hot spring Mountain views in Japan 🇯🇵🏔️🌫️
It was so inspiring after all the muraling around to breeze over to Finland and find Tove Jansson’s public art murals (had no idea about these prior) on display at HAM. Her lesser known fine artwork and cover illustration for The Summer Book were also there. Aleksandra Ionowa’s spirit blooms at Aleksi Gallen Kellela’s house. Capped this day off with a shvitz in the historic sauna on the museum grounds, only lit once a year or so. Helsinki really opened itself up to me. Thank you!

Artworks from a visit to the Ashmolean in Oxford, satire and sincerity at Fotografiska, hedges from a trek to the Rollright stones, artifacts from an enormous effort in conservation at the Vasa Museum. Old towns.
Cherished the chance to hop on the peripatetic painter 👩🏻🎨 plane with the merriest band at @deanbargerstudios . First stop, a medieval country cottage in the Cotswolds 🏴 ! Though I can’t share so many projects in my decorative arts career because of privacy concerns, I’ve been so happy to start collaborating more frequently with other mural studios and wanted to share this special commercial project I was a part of last fall. Drawing inspiration from Portuguese cubism and velvety jewel tones in tapestries, it was such a joy to conjure up this maximalist dream mural with the hyper talented and kind hearted crew at @deanbargerstudios in Maine. Install photos from the Roman and Williams team taken at its final destination, Locanda at Hudson Yards.
Proud of this project in which I developed a hand applied plaster finish in collaboration with @opusarchitecturalarts to match the look of a poured concrete control sample for a discerning client. No two projects are alike and there is always something new to learn in the material biz.
Was thrilled to engage in the kind of washy layered painting process that gently unfolds the way plants often do with the incomparable @erikalangstroth these past two weeks. Thank you for having me on Erika!
1200 sq feet of Spanish impressionist inspired glow up. An Old Florida vision softly fuzzing its way into focus at a promising new restaurant in Miami. Learned a lot, floated often 🌊. Grateful! 🌿
I’m lunching in the Central Park sun thinking I should post beyond stories occasionally, so here we are. Impromptu designed and painted this quickie floral mural working with @opusarchitecturalarts and @themarkhotelny to accompany the opening of their new menu offerings outdoors this season.
