Brandon Logan | Sid Motion Gallery, London ‘Willow Trust Illusion’ Until 1 November 2025 The making of each painting by Brandon Logan involves flooding, sealing, and fusing warps of string through the gradual layering of acrylic paint. The paintings acknowledge Orkney, the place where he grew up and now lives and works, finding their colours in the streets of Stromness and the Orkney landscape, and nodding to the islands’ rich traditions of weaving and tapestry. The title of the exhibition is drawn from three small boats long observed by Brandon Logan, docked side by side in Stromness Harbour. Logan’s exhibition at Sid Motion, his first solo exhibition in London, is the final iteration in a series of four collaborations between Sid Motion Gallery and Tom Cole. Photographs 7,8&10: Wenxuan Wang "The capacity for one place to evoke another – for an Orkney dawn to spur memories of Venice – finds an analogy in Logan’s paintings. Often, these seem other than what they are. Constructed from lengths of string and layers of acrylic paint, they evoke looms or the serried strings of musical instruments [...] Each painting casts into history, incites memory, summons analogies – and yet each painting is avowedly itself, an object and a structure." - James Cahill, September 2025 @brandonblogan @sidmotiongallery #brandonlogan #sidmotiongallery #willowtrustillusion

Brandon Logan | Bard Scotland ‘Little Low Heavens’ Until 24 August 2025 On view as part of this years Edinburgh Art Festival Brandon Logan’s distinct approach to abstract art is characterised by a process in which lengths of string are built up with successive layers of acrylic paint. Logan’s practice is shaped by the rhythms and atmospheres of Orkney, where time is both visible and deeply felt—in the changing weather and light, the layered histories of the land, and the cycles of life. The islands hold traces of those who came before—Neolithic tombs, Iron Age brochs, Viking settlements, and the scars of two world wars—resonances that inform his material and conceptual approach. Artwork pictured: Brandon Logan ‘Peligroso', 2025 acrylic and string 144 x 75 cm To receive a digital catalogue of the exhibition, please email [email protected]. My peedie show ‘Little Low Heavens’ is currently showing @bard.scotland in Edinburgh for those in town until the 24th! 😸 A special and intimate one, the space is scattered with items from my home and studio and the soft walls of Bard really let the works melt in. Brought about in collaboration and with big big thanks to @inglebygallery and @edartfest it’s v exciting to be a part of all the hustle and bustle of the city in August 🌾🌞🌻✨
