Honored to be invited to @goetheinstitut_nairobi for a screening of films by Ibrahim Shaddad and a rich discussion around them with the amazing Cristina.
Then at @afnairobi , a full house screening of Khartoum followed by an interesting Q&A with @mensbirte , curated by @ipaeastafrica
At the same time, Khartoum was screening in Cairo at the @goetheinstitut_sudan on the 3rd commemoration of the 2023 War in Sudan. In Addis, it was screened at the Voices of Sudan event curated by @yasirfaiz.films and @nawsied
Thankful for the doors that keeps opening and the great people around that show love and support for Sudan.

Voices From Sudan
As part of a new cultural and artistic initiative launched by In Deep Visions under the name In Deep Cultures, and marking the third anniversary of the war in Sudan, we are organizing a cultural and artistic event in Ethiopia, April 21, in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Film Club.
a powerful evening where film, music, and community come together to mark the 3rd anniversary of the Sudan war.
The night opens with a special live performance by The Tana Quintet by Hazim Alshafei, bringing the rhythm, soul, and resilience of Sudan to life—followed by a screening of the acclaimed film Khartoum, and Exhibition by Dr. Sahngal Hassan

We had quite the insightful conversation on Wednesday with Sudanese filmmaker, @brahimsnoopy . 🤌
In observance of the anniversary of the war in Sudan which began in 2023, we screened three short Sudanese films: JAGDPARTIE (Hunting Party) 1964, JAMAL (A Camel) 1981 and AL HABIL (The Rope) 1985 by Ibrahim Shaddad that preceded the conversation.
Snoopy engaged with our audience about being a filmmaker in a foreign country, an experience he has in common with Ibrahim Shaddad, and how that influences his storytelling. He also reflected on the times during which Shaddad made these films and spoke on how his work has impacted young Sudanese filmmakers like himself over the years. Additionally, he noted how more films from Sudan in relation to the ongoing war and political upheaval have emerged and touched on how Sudanese filmmakers go about the filmmaking process in the diaspora.
The Goethe-Institut Kenya is proud to provide a space for discourse among cultural enthusiasts. Discourse that encourages us to reflect on the past and to gain new perspectives on how to forge forward in the cultural and creative industries in Kenya.

Der Krieg im Sudan geht ins vierte Jahr – und fordert weiterhin Millionen Menschenleben und Existenzen heraus.
Im Video spricht der sudanesische Filmemacher Ibrahim Snoopy über die aktuelle Lage und die Realität vor Ort.
Heute, am Jahrestag des Kriegsbeginns, findet in Berlin eine internationale Sudan-Konferenz statt – doch konkrete politische Antworten bleiben dringend notwendig.
Snoopy ist Co-Regisseur des Films „Khartoum“, der auf der Berlinale mit dem Friedensfilmpreis ausgezeichnet wurde. Der Film erzählt vom Alltag, Widerstand und Überleben in Khartum.
Die Frage ist nicht mehr, ob gehandelt werden muss – sondern wie schnell.
