As everything Jap is still off the road due to salt an weather, went for a drive with Verity in the Clubsport to BMW northwest car meet. Parked up next to @gtufff stunning e30 320 vert. Some cool cars like rare 2002ti, and e39 m5. Always good to have an excuse to go for a drive in the Clubsport.
Day out at our local circuit Oulton Park on a damp November Saturday in the e46 Clubsport.
Apologies for the terrible camera position, looking for recommendations for a better camera mount system as the car is standard with just a good set of tyres it’s not going to set the timing boards alight but it’s great fun for putting the laps in.
The morning was very wet and took a good couple of laps to get enough heat into the tyres to make a lap not using the side windows. But once we had some heat into them the car worked perfectly all day which is the joys of taking a standard car on track. Thank you to @c_d.willis again for the push to get out on track with him, and @joe_yaris for the passenger lap in the Yaris as have such a soft spot for them.

When you turn your passion into your full time career sometimes you lose time to focus on yourself and the reasons you got into this profession.
Since moving away from full time test driving to full time builder I have spent a lot less time behind the wheel. This is where the BMW e46 clubsport comes in, being offered it at the right price from a good friend it gives me the chance to get back behind the wheel where I feel most at home.
The plan for this car is to always be ready for the track, so with that in mind zero modifications were made and the first track day at the amazing Cadwell Park with Circuit Days was booked alongside @c_d.willis in his extreme Exige.
Taking a completely standard road car with budget tyres may seem like a silly idea and many will say you must modify the car first, but this is where the journey has to begin. Being an open pit lane, the initial laps quickly racked up and already the limits of the standard car were showing themselves.
The first thing that was apparent, even with road tyres and stock suspension is that the standard seats do not provide enough support on this tight twisty track. This was then quickly followed by finding the limit of the road tyres overheating after 3-4 laps meaning frequent stops to let the tyres cool down. The brakes and engine felt great however, and made for some fun moments as the tyres were being pushed beyond their limit, with just a little exhaust blow on the last laps to start the job list.
Overall had a great day, even chasing @btgdale in his Yaris making me miss driving mine! The Mutant R33 4door saloon is now fully polished up and the colour starting to pop in the sun! I love how it looks black most of the time and only hints Purple in the sun. Few more tweaks to make then I can start enjoy driving it again 😍
Little update on the R33 4door.
Preparing for paint test fitting the side skirts and Navan rear wing ends which involves drilling into rear quarters.
Already looking much better, so excited to see this thing all cleaned up and shiny again 😍
Something very special for my 6 year Iron wedding anniversary to @missveeveevee . Every year I have made a rose so for Iron I had to go all out and make use of @coachhouseforge next door. I cannot thank Chris for letting me loose with the forge and all the hammers to turn the image in my head into hand shape parts. Starting with a twisted core then individual petals which I could then Tig weld onto a stainless steel stem. To finish it off I made stylised leaves by striking lines along the shape then using tig wire to attach them to the main stem.
Really happy with the result and final result. Hopefully worth putting up with me for the last 6 years haha
