Safe(r)circus brings a sense of safety and connection into the vibrant, chaotic world of nightlife.
Like a circus, it’s loud, colorful, and full of movement,
but even in the spotlight, we all need a place to breathe.
Through the craft of tufting, I create carpet installations that serve as safe(r)spaces at events.
Soft zones where people can pause, recharge, and connect.
These spaces aim to make nightlife more inclusive, accessible, and comfortable.

“Safe(r)circus: a soft landing in the nightlife.” Zo heet het werk van interieurontwerper @brabandesign , die speciaal voor ons een tapijt-installatie ontwikkelde. Een zachte zone waar je even kan pauzeren, ontprikkelen en op adem kan komen. Via dergelijke ingrepen hopen we Minus One ook tijdens het uitgaan veiliger en toegankelijker te maken. Enter the Safe(r)circus!

Afgestudeerd met deze 2 projecten “safe(r)Circus” en “Intersected Seats”! Beide projecten waren een zoektocht naar intimiteit en verbondenheid op openbare plekken, een zoektocht die lang nog niet afgerond is, maar mijn studies gelukkig wel! ;)

Alltough this installation is still a work in progress I find that using it and testing it with the public is the most important part of my process.
The Safe(r)Circus is a tangible safe(r)space designed to relax, zoom out and unwind during nightlife events.
From now on, the installation will be permanently available at @minus.one during events.
