📰 #ArtFocus Read: BEHIND THE SCENES // BOY MODE
'Boy Mode' (@boymodefilm ) is a short film that centers gender euphoria, self discovery, and queer joy within Oklahoma’s challenging legislative climate. Following a few days in the life of Reese, the film blends the theatrics of drag with an Old Hollywood visual language, using striking lighting and costuming to celebrate trans and genderqueer life. Created by and for the community, 'Boy Mode' brings together local artists, musicians, and collaborators to offer a hopeful, cinematic portrait of resistance, care, and creative survival.

The film was shot in 2023, under the looming threat of drag bans and gender-affirming care bans. Unbeknownst to us, this is a battle the Republican party won’t let up on - but it’s one we won’t give up on either.
