More on Turquoise Moon: this piece began development in 2011 as my very first classic act, set to the music of Shawnee rock icon Link Wray. It’s now been completely reborn as a love letter to my Muscogee and Potawatomi heritage. I made almost this entire costume myself, except the skirt panels, gown, and the beautiful custom earrings by @penawapskewi_designs .There’s still so much I want to add, but my hands were already aching by the time I finished the first round I prioritized hand-beading the turquoise and moon fringe and accents over rhinestoning with the time I had. Beads over diamonds vibes. This act feels so very me and truly joyous to perform. I can’t wait to share it on more stages! : Backstage at @adelewolfproductions

So thrilled to finally get Turquoise Moon out of my brain and onto the stage! My very first classic act was a gown and boa number to “Rumble.” I debuted it at the 2012 Dallas Burlesque Festival and won the Satan’s Angel Award.It was retired a few years later, but I’ve been wanting to revisit it for a long time. I debuted a working version last summer in an existing costume, but this new costume has been a journey…Isn’t it always? 14 years and a whole lot of experience later, the only things the two versions have in common are the music, a gown, and a boa.
