EARTH DAY for @boyblanck@wolfieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee & @massappealindia
This one is such a unique brainchild. Initially we wanted to make a visualizer with some stuff we shot in Assam at a tea estate, but then realized we had only got 3 shots total and a simple visualizer would not do justice to the song. While brainstorming on what to do, Raghav pitched the idea of putting text on screen and making it kind of an informative presentation about the Earth- the main goal being making humans feel small in comparison. We ran with the idea and Wolfie wrote the text for the video, and constructed a really self-aware, meta world where we talked about the video, why it existed, why it was the way it was. Then, Mandy and Raghav came over to my apartment to sit on the edit and we just went goofier and goofier as time passed, until we were at the end of the video, and I was like- what if we just cut to Premiere playing the actual video that we were editing (😭), and that is what resulted in Earth Day.
I think I often take myself too seriously when it comes to making music videos and this is so the opposite of that- so fun, so stupid. I adapted Wolfie’s script into my own weird tone and went crazy on the design elements, and we ended up with a video that feels like something only we as a group could have made. I love this silly music video that was somehow distributed by a major label 💀
