What and Who is an #OpulentTemple ?? Bringing the sound to an all-night lineup at @@boxshopsf Saturday, May 30th - Opulent Temple has been around as long as we have - and built much of their staging at The Box Shop in early years. Opulent Temple is "a leading not-for-profit electronic music stage production emerging from #BurningMan and based in San Francisco. We operate by volunteer effort and are funded solely by donation through fundraiser events all year round. The trademark DJ booth known as the O-pod is comprised of artfully twisted steel details, designed and welded by the OT resident DJ’s themselves. The stage is illuminated mainly by firelight from DJ-controlled flame thrower effects. The sound is raw, unexpected, full-bodied and visceral. The iconic symbol of the Dancing Shiva has been emblazoned at a wide array of events across North America and Europe. It asks the question: how would a machine rate you on your humanity? Participants react to emotional scenarios guided by on-screen prompts, and the Reactor uses voice recognition and facial emotion recognition technology to rate their performance. ...One person stands on one side of it to operate the machine, and the "audience" stands on the other side to watch their performance." Charlie Stigler is an artist and fabricator whose work ranges from monumental steel sculptures to digital installations and immersive experiences.
