¡Poder y Propósito en la Escuela San Procopio! Tuvimos el honor de dar la bienvenida a la Representante Estatal Theresa Mah y al Concejal Byron Sigcho-Lopez a nuestro programa extraescolar “Lucha Como Niña”, en colaboración con Box United. Nuestros invitados se sumaron de inmediato: la Representante Mah se unió a las chicas en ejercicios de boxeo, y tanto ella como el Concejal Sigcho-Lopez participaron en nuestra poderosa sesión de círculo, donde nuestras niñas compartieron sus voces, fortaleza e historias. Un momento especial: la Jefa de Gabinete del Concejal es una orgullosa exalumna de Escuela San Procopio y tuvo una emotiva reunión con su ex maestra de kinder, la Maestra Nohemi Ruiz, un momento de círculo completo que nos recordó las profundas raíces y el impacto de nuestra comunidad escolar. Un agradecimiento especial a nuestra directora, Sheila Doyle, y al increíble equipo de Box United por hacer de esta experiencia algo significativo y empoderador para nuestras estudiantes. Juntos, estamos construyendo confianza, liderazgo y comunidad, ¡golpe a golpe! Power and Purpose at St. Procopius School! We were honored to welcome State Representative @theresamah and Alderman @sigchofor25 to our Fight Like a Girl after-school program in partnership with @box_united ! Our guests jumped right in—Rep. Mah joined the girls in boxing drills, and both she and Ald. Sigcho-Lopez participated in our powerful circle session where our girls shared their voices, strength, and stories. A special highlight: the Alderman’s Chief of Staff is a proud St. Procopius alumna and had a heartfelt reunion with her former kindergarten teacher, Maestra Nohemi Ruiz—a full-circle moment that reminded us of the deep roots and impact of our school community. Special thanks to our principal, Mrs. Sheila Doyle, and the amazing team at Box United for making this experience meaningful and empowering for our students. Together, we’re building confidence, leadership, and community—one punch at a time!
