Earth Magiicc!✨ Ancient Lime Kiln!!
My friend wanted to go for a hike near granite falls and suggested this lime kiln trail without realizing I was working a job using lime based plaster! Lo n behold we found this lime kiln deep in the woods perched above a river from 1890! Workers would hike out and cook down lime stone into putty and haul it out of the woods using this two story kiln!!
For those who don't know, lime is an old form of concrete. We mix our own natural plasters and use either lime or clay or both as the binder in the mix along with sand and fiber! I have a deep connection with lime now and I can't help but feel stumbling upon this kiln in the forest was a fated part of my journey.
My friend is a medium and said the fairy's at the kiln were stoked that I appreciated the significance of this old structure for what it was as most people who visit there have no idea of it's function! But all my plasterer friends know this is quite an incredible thing! Thanks Micah!!!
The incredibly talented @adrianthephotographer was staying at my dome when we decided to do dis ridiculous photoshoot whilst buildin out my van for the burn!
Thanks so much for these wonderful pics Adrian! Guess imma hafta start modelin but it's real hard wurk keepin a straight face!
Also my Mom made me that red button up shirt!
From vision into reality! It wurked out!
We came up with this concept back in spring, Johnny @trilliumdomes whipped up a design in no time, we actually have a whole nother inverse design we are saving for next year!
After a few conversations and summer chalk full of events I picked up the materials and started chopping only a week before @asabovesobelowpnw
I was absolutely haggard but worked day n night to blam this thing together. Luckily I got help from baby habiki at the land project I live at and @l___i__a_m came to scorch the frame! Johnny rolled up at the crunchiest hour to rip all the bevels! I was able to finish the final details on Thursday before the event at which point I loaded the whole structure up into my van and drove it to the fairgrounds to erect it that night!
The following day @aloysius_moon_ and the @decay_olympia
Crew were able to roll up and freestyle projection map the structure on the fly!
@dietrichfarms Caitlin threw down hard on the surrounding foliage multiple truckloads of flowers!
@frequenzie.audio and @markhardyhere expertly designed the audio for the room
@cougarmakesart and cas helped put together the structure as well!
Not to mention a whole grip of help from a myriad of folks on the as above so below crew.
And this was just one small part of the festival as a whole!
We made it happen fur mayday! Love my brother Johnny Bayles @trilliumdomes who has been making effigies for Beltane for a decade at this point! We scrapped this one up with the help of the incredible community on the Olympic peninsula! Big thank you to Froghill Farm for hosting such a special night! Johnny slapped together and carved a thicc ol frog to honor the farm and be the pearl of this Zome flower! Hope y'all are ready for the summer cause it seems we are in the heat of the meat! We'll continue to level up these silly little campfires in the years to come so catch us at the next round of the sun!
