Borgial (born in 1994 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo) is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Paris. His practice, at the intersection of performance, video, and sculpture, explores notions of cultural syncretism and the transmission of memory.
At the core of his work, the body operates as a space of transformation and reception, traversed by narratives, forces, and imaginaries. Through performances conceived as contemporary rituals, he constructs a personal mythology nourished by Kongo culture, ancestral traditions, and Western art history.
His works incorporate artifacts, often made of wood or textile, conceived as vestige-objects carrying narratives in constant evolution. In resonance with these actions, video and installation extend and transform these experiences, opening up new interpretive spaces.
Marked by his migratory history, his practice questions cultural circulations and forms of embodied memory, in a dialogue between intimate experience and collective scope.

We gratefully acknowledge Ville de Lausanne, Loterie Romande and Canton de Vaud for their generous support to the project.

If you are a member of the Bourse de Commerce SuperCercle, join us for this exclusive workshop led by Borgial, engaging with objects and materials that are integral to his practice.
No experience in performance or dance is required.
Very warm thanks to the Bourse de Commerce team. These workshops are accompanied and produced by the public programs team. Many thanks @estelleout and @emmajomary .
Thanks to @emmalavigne_ for inviting me to develop this screening and workshop program.
See you on April 7, 10, and 17 at the Bourse de Commerce.

This is the position I usually begin a performance in. It grounds the lower body into the soil while opening the plexus to the world — not only to present, but mainly to receive. As I am, myself, a vessel for greater purposes.

The Mirror unfolds an intimate mythology where syncretism and the search for identity meet. Positioned between relic and ritual, the objects and sculptures explore a spiritual heritage shaped by memories and metamorphoses.
Le Miroir déploie une mythologie intime où se rencontrent syncrétisme et quête identitaire. Entre vestige et rituel, les objets et sculptures explorent un héritage spirituel traversé de mémoires et de métamorphoses.
