Happy Friday! With spring weather slowly arriving (Toronto) this is such a great read before going for nature walk! “A Walk in the Forest - A Counting Book for Little Tree Hugs” is a colourful, beautifully illustrated board book that takes the younger reader on a journey to know more about trees from parts of the world, as they also learn their numbers and counting. Perfect for Baby Circle Time! The back of the book shows Tree Celebrations dates around the globe. Thank you @familiusbooks for the #reviewcopy . All opinions are my own. @cathy.goldberg.fishman #melaniehall #boardbooks #babybooks #babyreading

On Monday evening we had a great time at another wonderful launch at @mabelsfablesbookstore ! Three gorgeous books, perfect for read aloud! From cosmic rocks, to a colourful weeding, and a book about mental health that is a gift, I wish I had growing up and I know it will help so many children and families. I will be sharing all of them soon (“I did share “The Cosmic Rock” a little while ago, I will reshare with you all!) Head out to your favourite indie bookstore and get them! Or your library! Must reads and great stories to share! “One Cosmic Rock” @owlkidspublishing @karenkrossing @dreamist_art “Samina Goes to a Wedding” @owlkidspublishing @fzamanart “The Cloud That Stuck” @charlesbridgepublishing @karenkrossing @doroleung #picturebookswelove #newbooks #bookrelease #newreads #picturebookart

Ah! This book made me start the countdown to summer! It also brought memories from my childhood, as well as got my children talking about how much they miss their cousins in Brazil and how they are looking forward to our next visit there! A warm, cozy, fun and even nostalgic read about the bound between cousins, family rituals, remembering the past and creating new memories with our loved ones that we might not see often! Seven cousins spend summer together at the beach, exploring, swimming, playing and sharing stories. Vibrant, charming and a perfect book to read cuddling! And to gift cousins of every age! Thank you @thamesandhudsonusa @thamesandhudsonchildrens for the review copy. All opinions and love are my own! @maggiehutchingsauthor @sarahzweckstudio

Happy Monday! Another week begins, and with it new opportunities, learning and chances to grow. Sometimes can also bring anticipation and anxiety. And for children growing up during high pressure and insane times, where competition and comparison are encouraged and stress shows at early ages, this book is a gift. A necessary read and a great conversation starter. In “When you Dream Big!” , we follow Charlie, the only child in her class that is not excited about Dream Big Week at school. She has no idea of what she wants for her future. Not having plans and specific goals are making her nervous and anxious. But by looking inside, she discovers that as long as she follows her heart and keeps moving forward, she will find her way. And that who she is and how she navigated the world is more important that “what she will be when she grows up”. Charlie inspires her whole class, and the young reader. To be “a confident dreamer, always moving forward.” Another beautiful book by the wonderful @peterhreynolds . Perfect read aloud and a tool for educators and caregivers in need to assist children with anxiety. I wish I had this book growing up! Thank you @scholasticcda for the #reviewcopy . Today was #indiebookstoreday . Every year my children and I do a bookstore crawl visiting all our favourites and saying hi to the best booksellers and friends. This time I had to go to work. For a good reason. The Children’s Book Bank hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic, one of my passion projects. And it was great! We still managed to visit three amazing, magical indies. I cannot thank enough folks that work hard to contribute to bring book magic to all. And make no mistake: Dante, Maya and the book addicted writing this post will hit some more bookstores tomorrow. Because everyday is Indie Bookstores Day! @mabelsfablesbookstore @inhabit_books @anotherstorybookshop #indiebookstores #indiebooksellers #bookstoremagic #supportindiebookstores

Happy Earth Day! And as we celebrate our planet and all beautiful things it gives to us, it is important to remind ourselves to look after our home and environment. Small and big actions are needed to ensure we keep Earth healthy. Waste, garbage and circular economy are topic that must be discussed today (and always! ), and not only at schools! This is a fun, objective, relatable and engaging read aloud to start the conversation. It tackles on recycling, waste disposal, reusing and passing forward items we don’t need anymore - instead of discarding them- and how to minimize our negative impacts at the same time we provide new resources to others. Simple but powerful. And a call for action for the younger readers! @groundwoodbooks @wynnejonestim @scot.ritchie #earthday #earthdayreads #earthdaybooksforkids #enviroment #earthlovers

The funniest readaloud of the season! Children laugh out loud and ask to read again and again! But don’t worry: it’s full of science/nature facts too! Capybaras are fascinating animals (and a current trend among children and grown ups alike!). This read will teach more about this amazing and cute creatures, but also … will reveal a secret no capybara want you to know! Written and illustrated by one of my favourite creatures: @melaniewatt1 ! And the best part! I learned this is book 1 of a series! Can’t wait! Thank you @scholasticcda for the #reviewcopy . All opinions are my own! #funread #readaloud #capybara #storytimefun

It’s raining here in Toronto today, but it’s getting warmer. Birds are coming back and I don’t cate if the sky is grey today! Spring is here and I can’t wait to all the fun it will bring! This sweet release follows another one of my favourites (“When Autumn Come”). A celebration of all the colours, sounds and magical moments the season brings, as we follow a young child as they welcome every drop and blossom! Illustrations are cute and the rhythm is perfect for read aloud. As on the previous books from the series, a scavenger hunt in the back end makes the book more engaging and allows for a cosy game with little ones! Thank you @nosycrowus @littlenosycrow for the #reviewcopy . All opinions and love are my own! @ekaterinatrukhan #springreads #springbooks #favouritereads #springvibes🌸

Wow! This book is everything I love on a non fiction for young readers. The cover and inside spreads catch your eyes. Are so colourful, detailed and yet maintain a sense of “real”. Words are easy, direct and deliver science and facts in an engaging and enjoyable way. A great read aloud and resource for teachers and home educators. It makes children want to learn more about cicadas. These tiny insects are loud! Impossible not to notice when they are around! Some species appear every year. But some only emerge every 17 years! And they come all at once, in a large group (as many as 750,000!!!). The rhythmic and rhyming verse allows children to get immersed in the cicada’s life cycle and facts surrounding this mysterious and unique creature. I’m obsessed! And so is every child I read this one to! Thank you @albertwhitman for the #reviewcopy . All opinions are my own. @suefliess @garethlucasart #nonfictionreads #stemeducation #stemforkids #scienceisfun

I absolutely love non fiction books for children. Way better than Google in my opinion, and a gateway for more research on themes they love! These two new releases are colourful, facts packed and very engaging! “Behind the Scenes Airport” - Out April 7th #usjara Hyper detailed illustrations will take the reader behind the scenes of an international airport operations and routines. Curiosities and fun facts from the check in counter to take off. “Greek Myths” - Out on April 14th @catherineardkidsbooks @mariasurducan My 9 years old loved this one! Very interactive, the reader is invited to solve mazes, crack codes and solve riddles, as they learn more about myths and Ancient Greece. Easy language, and a fresh angle on Greek Mythology. Both will make a great gift for children’s classrooms! Thank you @thamesandhudsonusa @thamesandhudsonchildrens for the #reviewcopies #nonfictionbooks #nonfictionreads #nonfictionbooksforkid
