Weekly flashes on the Graham Technique, its history and transmission.
Unlike classical ballet, born from European court traditions and built on elevation and lightness, the Graham Technique is rooted in the centre of the body: the pelvis, the spine, the breath, and the relationship to the ground.
Through 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 and 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, it reveals a body that does not escape gravity.

The use of skirts, the connection to community, and the cultural essence of the dances. Martha Graham drew profound inspiration from both Eastern and Western traditions. Gypsy dance, rich with influences from many cultures, creates a bridge that connects people through movement.
As Graham said, « The movement never lies. » This perfectly captures how we can’t escape the natural flow of the body when we share dance.
