Okayyy, get ready, I have a photoshoot to gush about 📸📸📸 (grab the Kleenex!!! 🤧🥺🥲)
First & foremost, I have a big ol’ warm & loving THANK YOU to 3 beautiful ladies that came together & joined me to bring this all into fruition 🫂🫶🏾✨

You all are absolutely STUNNING, and I’m beyond lucky to showcase you in a way that I believe mainstream media has consistently failed to do. Representation matters. It sends the message that “Yes, you belong here. This is for you. There is nothing ‘wrong’ with you, and nothing excludes you from having your most fundamental, basic human needs met. This is what it looks like for you.”
The world needs to see more Black and Brown women, men & everyone in between, in a state of receiving and restfulness. Many of our ancestors couldn’t even afford to imagine taking a nap, let alone receiving bodywork to regulate their nervous systems. Rest and healing weren’t part of the conversation—it was about working, carrying the load, taking the punishment. Survive to suffer.
I haven’t been fully able to express the honor it is to be part of a truth I’ve always known in my heart & vivid imagination, but struggled to find reflected as I grew up.
With that, I give a heartfelt, teary-eyed THANK YOU to
@amandamustard for trulyyyy listening to understand my story and vision. I’m fascinated with the way you see. These breathtaking visuals feel like moments from a dream. Little Marissa’s dream. From my heart, thank you 🤎📸
This post is dedicated to all the beautiful & soulful women who have trusted me to share this moment with them. As a Black woman bodyworker, it’s been an honor to bring to life the imagery I’ve always envisioned—one that my ancestors, and even my immediate family, have rarely seen represented but so desperately deserved.
So, I’ll take it upon myself to continually share and facilitate rest for my community and all who align with my practice. I want you to see yourself through this lens. A new narrative for Black rest, wellness, and self. This time, the lens is tender, healthy, rested, and at ease.
🤎
