5 things that change in the body during pregnancy that every movement teacher needs to know. 1. Relaxin increases joint laxity - especially in the pelvis. Stability work becomes essential. 2. The center of gravity shifts forward - altering posture, gait, and load through the lumbar spine. 3. The diaphragm gets compressed as the uterus grows - breathing mechanics change significantly. 4. Diastasis recti develops in most pregnancies - not all exercise is appropriate or safe. 5. Pelvic floor load increases dramatically - and it needs to be trained, not just stretched.
