The third and final part of DJ and broadcaster Bobby Friction’s trilogy of Swaraj musings, in which he reminisces about his battered old car, chickpeas and astronauts.
The music in this reel is ‘A Low BMW’ by Black Star Liner, featuring Bobby himself on vocals! 🤯
If ever a piece of music embodied the spirit of a club night, this is it. A Low BMW is only two minutes long but is dense with vibe, blending eastern influences with Indie, Dub and Electronica.
It captures the spirit of Swaraj - cool but playful, colourful and chaotic - with a cut-and-paste feel and infectious low-slung groove.

The Asian network family shared a little throwback of their own during this weekender. 🤩
Listen back to throwback mixes all day today and the entire weekender on @bbcsounds 🎧
DJ and Broadcaster @bobbyfricton launched his DJ career at Swaraj in 1997, where he was one of the original residents.
Hear him waxing lyrical about his summer of love, a nerve-racking debut experience, and his thoughts on the return of Swaraj.
This video is the first part of a trilogy. Always articulate and inciteful, Bobby had a lot to say!
