A single large-scale event can create thousands of pounds of waste. Food Waste. Decor Waste. Single-use items. Last year we worked with Detroit artist @bobby_lv and florist @nichehitch on 3,000 custom designed candle holders for a charity gala. This year, for the @ceramics_x_fiber show at @nceca they have reused the candle holders to create Veil 3000, a sculptural art installation using recycled materials like vintage magazine clippings, secondhand clothing, and even hair - tracing memory, identity, and transformation. Swipe for before & after!

About the Artist
Bobby Leo Veresan (b. 1995 Southfield, Michigan) Veresan first started thinking about clay as a fine art medium in 2014 during his first semester at Oakland Community College. Veresan was drawn to clay as a material that retained memories. His relationship grew as he invested more time with the material. The repetition of physical processes became a way to accelerate his learning ability. Bobby decided to continue studying craft and materials; at the College for Creative Studies where he received his BFA in Craft and material studies. Veresan is interested in bringing functional and architectural methodologies to sculpture. He is also interested in form and design that operate sublimely. Veresan uses handbuilding, slipcasting, pressmolding, extruding, wheel throwing, experimental glazing, and firing to extend ideas about structure.
As we lead up to @NCECA , we will be introducing each of the 60 artist pairs participating in Ceramics x Fiber. We are excited to see the results of their collaborations! Follow to learn more. Exhibition information linked in bio.
