portraits of B to accompany the release of his new music @barbadb
i frequently find myself stuck in sonic whirlpools. at the time, ‘song to the siren’ was swirling around me constantly. after recognizing a cover of it at the end of the film — and subsequently realizing it was the same song played in my favorite scene from ‘Lost Highway’ — i listened to it on loops for hours.
as B and i sat down to work together, i told him that ‘song to the siren’ had been playing playing playing while i had planned our session together. in some ways, it inspired my hope for the outcome of these portraits: ethereal yet dark.
B had this small smile on his face as I spoke. Then, he shared that he repeatedly listened to the original version by Tim Buckley as a teenager while he sat at on the roof of his home in Iran. i can’t imagine what could be more kismet.

today is my last full day living in somerville ❤️🩹 it’s bittersweet to leave somewhere you’ve lived for 11 years… boston offered me so much space to become the person i am today and it will always hold a deeply special place in my heart. but it also prepared me to spread my wings, fly, and find a new home.
in honor of this change, here are some of my favorite images i made this year. i can’t wait to see what happens in this next chapter; i’m so excited to call brooklyn my new home 💙✨
this year has been one of intense growth and change. while i most definitely feel it in my bones, i struggled to see it reflected in my work until i made these images but oh boy is it here… i see it in the composition, the editing, the concept, the selections. i see it in my translation of david lynch’s lost highway into a fashion editorial context. i see it in the sheer effort and determination i summoned to have this concept become a realized project.
i’m immensely proud and i’m glad to say that here, publicly. when i think of what’s next, i am absolutely looking at the big sky ☁️
a profound thank you to @zach.guerra for imbuing this series with his soul ✨
spent a wonderful long weekend at @touristswelcome to catch the final, quiet moments of fall 🍁
grateful to return to a space where i feel creatively seen. until next time 💙
