we are planning a free community pizza night at the bakery on June 6 from 5-7. It’s our 10th birthday at Blue Grouse! So we’ll be slinging some pies and having some live vinyl tunes courtesy of Ouray celebrity, DJ Night Nurse. Pizza is free but if people want to pitch in for a good cause, we’ll have the donation buckets for both Fresh Foundation @freshfoodhubnorwood and WETA @westendtrailsalliance Hope to see ya there!
BIG NEWS!
A few weeks back we polled our insta audience to see what people would prefer, given the steeply rising cost of sesame seeds. 1) Increase pricing for the seeded loaf or 2) keep price the same and remove the sesame seed crust. Reviews came back in support of both but the overwhelming feeling from our customers was to do what worked for us. Running a small business in food has a lot of challenges and having the support of our community is what makes it all worthwhile!
We have decided to launch the seeded without a sesame crust starting for the spring/summer season. We hope you enjoy it! Our staff 100% agrees it is better than it’s original form : ).
Here’s a picture of what you’ll see on the shelves TODAY. Back from vacation and back to our normal delivery schedule three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

And now for some fun and long overdue updates about the biz : )
Many of you know that Blue Grouse was started by two people, myself (Hannah Rossman) and my cousin, Ben Rossman. A little while back, Ben decided to venture out on his own to spread some more bread joy across the land. He ended up landing in Williamstown, MA and is just getting his new breadventure rolling @eastforkbread !!! We hope you’ll check out what he’s up to and seek out his business on the east coast. I wanted to share the news about the biz change up now that he’s settled and ready to feed you.
Meanwhile, we’re still chugging along here in Norwood. After Ben’s departure, I took on a new partner, Colby Brown. Colby came on as an employee right around the time my daughter, Nora, was born. He’s a super talented baker and a real nice guy to be around. He’s great, but prefers to hide behind the bread loaves than be front and center so you won’t find him on the social media platforms so much.

It’s been a weird winter, I think everyone in the southwest can agree… Looking forward to giving the crew some good time off to get out and play. We’ll see you for late April, ready to rock ‘n’ roll for summer!

We will be delivering all of our usual delivery days throughout Christmas and New Years. (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). We will NOT be delivering to Montrose locations on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve. Sorry Montrose friends! The holiday hours at Natural Grocers and Straw Hat are too early for us to make it in time for a drop. We will bring extra Monday 12/22 and Monday 12/29 accommodate.
It’s Giving Tuesday! Though we don’t promote much of the work we’ve been doing on social media, we quietly continue our mission to support regional food systems by fostering food security and health equity.
Our main program continues to be the bedrock of this mission: provide whole grain bread to local food banks, shelters and other human service organizations via @tumbleweedbread and our other satellite bakery partners: @moxiebreadco@puebloseed@bluegrousebread
To date, we’ve collectively supplied nearly 10,000 loaves since November 2022!

Back from vacation + Thanksgiving bake schedule!
Bread is back on the shelves at all locations today. We are baking today (Friday), Monday and Wednesday but will NOT be delivering Friday 11/28 so our crew can take Thanksgiving off to be with family!

Just a heads up that we will be closing for off-season soon! We feel very lucky to be able to give our staff and (ourselves) a little break before we jump into the winter season. Our last bake day before break will be Friday, October 31st. We will be closed for a few weeks and then delivering again on Friday, November 21! Thanks for all the support this summer and fall.
