On the 12 year anniversary of NALSA Judgement (15th April, 2026) a lovely bunch of Queer, Trans, Enby and allies celebrated their right to self-identification by bringing homemade Nimbu-Pani (lemonade) and their own fun selfs to the Chaityabhoomi Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak. We handed out Nimbu-Pani and also shared how the recently passed Trans Amendment Act '26 impedes on the very constitutional rights that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has enshrined in our constitution. The right to determine and choose one's own identity. Which the NALSA Judgement, 12 years ago identified also covers the right to determination of one's own gender. We were there on the 15th of April, the day after the 135th Ambedkar Jayanti. Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar, Mumbai, is famous as the sacred final resting place (cremation site) of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice. He believed self-identification was essential for true equality and freedom from caste, class, communal and other forms of oppression. We shared with folks we met, how there was no going back for us and what the personal implications of this abhorrent act on our lives. When we spoke to them it was easy to see that there were those who had empathy for us and what we were doing. If you'd like some Nimbu-Pani and chats let us know 🏳️‍⚧️💖🏳️‍🌈 Music @dont.interrupt.while.we.dance

As some sort of dark joke on Trans Visibility Day 2026, the nightmarish Trans Amendment Bill was given presidential assent. Amidst protests and all kinds of on ground work from our community’s end to communicate our dissent and what the amendment does to us trans folks. When I recently spiralled, I was reminded that the benefit of our history of invisibilisation as trans people and as a trans masc person, is in us having managed all along without the state’s recognisition. Within the cracks of laws, society, marginalisation, and violence - we have learnt to find love, care and support. And we will continue to do so. Of course there is fear because we had begun to hope, hope for laws that held us too. But we retreat to our cracks, knowing that we will still persist. They can play their rights granting-snatching, push and pull game all they want. This Trans Day of Visibility (although I got late posting this), I share this in public without fear and shame of who all might find out about my transness. This period has reminded me that there are too many institutions in place to remind me to fear my truth, but I will not let it because I have felt such joy in it. It was also scary but exciting to record my changed T-voice and experiment with it vocally. Finding myself in the pool of overwhelm, I found myself feeling hope in creating. Using an old artwork of mine, and borrowing some very powerfully written lines by @nishant.tayde from a killer song written by both Nishi and Shez @joycean_catboy (make sure to have a listen if you haven’t on @inshallah.babes ofc). Sending my warmest hugs to trans folks out there, to make it through these horrible times. Sleep lots, eat well and spend time in company of loved ones. Lots of love, Ono P.S. adding my cohort of in-house family influencers as collaborators since mine is a private account <3 @rejecttransbill2026 #rejecttransbill2026 #billtohkacchahaiji

I know it feels like we can't even afford to feel defeated today, it's because we knew this would happen. To do it in TDOV also feels like a communal attack on us and it's just hurts and makes us more angry, but we cannot forget about our resilience they don't know who they're up against. We're a community that has stood up for ourselves and each other no matter what is thrown at us. I don't know what our hearts are made of to withstand this much and STILL CHOOSE JOY. OUR JOY IS SO IMPORTANT FOR US THAT WE'LL FIGHT WITH ANYTHING AND ANYONE FOR IT. F##K THIS ACT ! You'll see us on the other side ! #rejecttransbill2026
