Bloxham Tapes is back with more experimental sounds for an unsound world this time at Bergen’s home for electronic music and experimental sounds, ØSTRE!
We are pleased to welcome Javanese Post Gamelan duo Mo’ong & Bilawa, alongside a sonic happening from Collective Sound-Making Collective.
MO’ONG & BILAWA
Brilliantly described as Post Gamelan Gamelan, Mo’ong & Bilawa are Indonesian musicians Bilawa Ade Respati – a multi-disciplinary artist drawing influences from everything from engineering to the performing arts; from European music tradition to the art of Javanese Karawitan – and Mo’ong Pribadi, best known for his experimental music and instrument building in the bands Raja Kirik and Takkak Takkak.
COLLECTIVE SOUND-MAKING COLLECTIVE
Collective Sound-Making Collective will be a sonic happening as part of ‘Shared Resonance’, a collective sonic practice run by Mo’ong & Bilawa using everyday items as sound-objects, unfolding over 3 days in Bergen at Lydgalleriet and Østre. Through the workshop, participants are facilitated to express themselves through a sound-object of their choice, and participate in this collective sound-making experience.
For more information and to sign up, visit @lydgalleriet or link in my bio.
Made possible with the kind support of Lydgalleriet, Østre and Bergen Kommune.
Looking forward to the next @bloxhamtapes at @bergen_kjott which rolls in April. Should be another great evening.

Bloxham Tapes is back with more experimental sounds for an unsound world in the Bergen Kjøtt Bar!
This time we are pleased to welcome Menorca-based sound artist Mauri Edo into the throng, alongside local saxophonist August Ramstad doing a rare solo outing.
Subespai
Subespai is the project of Menorca-based sound artist Mauri Edo. Drawing on found sound, repetition and the manipulation of volume, his work explores memory, identity and place. His latest release “Saints” (Oxtail Recordings, 2025) was composed using field recordings of traditional melodies from the patron saint festivals of Alaior, stretched and layered into two long-form pieces of drone and ambient textures. The record has received critical support and is currently being presented live across Europe.
August Ramstad
Ramstad grew up in Bergen and is active in the cultural and music scene through the band project Superføkk, as well as through his connection to Østre – Hus for eksperimentell og elektronisk lyd. He is a saxophonist with a penchant for unexpected, perverse expressions on the instrument. “The performance is an attempt to understand oneself through staging and will consist of improvisation using extended techniques on the saxophone and various tools run through electronics.”

Presenting 'Mo'ong & Bilawa' by MO'ONG & BILAWA.
Bloxham Tapes is delighted to illuminate the winter gloom with the life-affirming debut full-length release from Mo'ong & Bilawa.
'Mo'ong & Bilawa' is the work of Indonesian musicians Bilawa Ade Respati – a multi-disciplinary artist drawing influences from everything from engineering to the performing arts; from European music tradition to the art of Javanese Karawitan – and Mo’ong Pribadi, best known for his experimental music and instrument building in the bands Raja Kirik and Takkak Takkak.
This cassette draws on traditional music from Java, pulling and pushing it into new sonic areas via what they refer to as a "playful encounter"– a sort of musical game, but wherein neither party should win or lose, and so one that demands cooperation and negotiation, acknowledging the different interests of both the players.
Numerous contemplations and conversations accompanied Pribadi and Respati in the creation of this exhilarating collaborative work. Putting aside their individual practices, they engage in dialogues to create a playful and syncretic musical output: all the cacophonies of life audible and to be embraced from this game for two.
Chance and intentionality. Resonance and serenity. It is an album of twos. A playful encounter, perhaps, but undeniably one played with a soaring determination and sonic clarity – an epic duo exchange for repeated listening.

Presenting ADRA ‘Music For Psychiatric Wards and DIY Spaces (Live in Spain 2025)’... c62… plays same both sides... no digital...
/merch/adra
Cassette edition of ‘name your price’ digital album, originally released June 2025.
“In June 2025 I played a handful of gigs in Spain and Catalonia with a set based on my Music for Psychiatric Wards album. The events were hosted by DIY collectives in social centres and independently run bars and venues. Prior to the tour I had been unsure about how music that I had created in such a specific context and for a particular audience would translate. As the tour unfolded I realised that these self-organised cultural spaces were ideal settings to share the project.
“Those of us lucky enough to have access to them will know how valuable DIY spaces are in forging communities in which we can simultaneously find refuge from the alienating and displacing effects of late capitalism, and develop tools and strategies for building more inclusive, diverse and sustainable worlds. They are created and maintained by collective enthusiasm, dedication and belief that ‘Another (non-capitalist) World is Possible’. As such they provide preventative care for the stresses and crises of everyday life.
“Support your local community space and help ease the load for psychiatric hospitals.” – ADRA
