Guys, I did a thing
My brother and I decided to “branch” somewhere; a museum at Cocoa House, one filled with the richness of the Yoruba culture
@oduamuseum
Warning: Long caption below😊
Shall we?
Slide 1: A short video of Cocoa House, the first skyscraper in West Africa. The black part of the video shows the replica of what they called the “Palm Oil Lamp”, for reading, lightening up dark rooms, and so on
Slide 2: Just read☺️
Slide 3: The first school uniform also called ASO KIRIJIPA
Slide 4: Who can resist snapping with the King😅
Slide 5: Just a door carved with history
Slide 6: Do you know why it’s called “Juju music”? Apparently, when there’s an event and the musicians are really into it while playing various instruments plus this particular one, they toss the box to one another, so they coined the word from the action; in Yoruba, to throw means “Ju”, so “Juju”, get it?
Slide 7: This was something that was used to ward off evil-doers of all sorts, they claim that when you look at it as a person about to cause harm, you’d see fire or flood
Slide 8: Black and White TV in those days🥹
Slide 9: We saw Ibadan, it was thrilling! I’m still reeling from the excitement 😁
Slide 10: My twin and I
@studiochef_001
Slide 11: Who doesn’t love a sun-kissed picture
Slide 12: Our lovely curator, Mr Jide
It was fun but we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside
I hope I captured a little essence of the culture
My Yoruba people, what else can you add?
Hope you enjoyed the tour☺️
