“Pioneer Sportsworld” Just up Shantz Hill, nestled within the intestinal tract connecting Cambridge with Kitchener Ontario, once stood a 90s Tri-City childhood staple of an Amusement park... Here's a sweaty, chlorine scented Music Video for Block Parent's classic "Fuck Sports Anthem" titled Pioneer Sportsworld ... And only 8 years too late! This was the 5th track on our 2018 full length album "Amongst The Hurtin Mess" which turns 8 yrs old this month (Shout out fellow Tauruses). Mangled up vintage 80s/90s Sportsworld commercials and mashed them with old live footage from legendary KW house venue "The Snake Pit" (R.I.P) and us playing at a Preston Hot Dog Restaurant huh huh. Basement shows, A crusty deceased local 519 Amusement park & a disliking of Sports... However, as mentioned... Better late than never, boys! Here's a little pungent treat, it's a music video for our last single... couple years later! Shot between the jam space, live shows, and the studio while recording Panic Pete! with @therealmattgauthier in Hamilton, this video is a time capsule of what the Parentals were getting their fingers into summer/fall 2024. "Panic Pete!" ended up being the last tune Block Parent put out and turned out to be a pretty fuckin ripping track that we were super proud of. Instead of letting all this footage collect dust, figured we'd piece it together into something worth sharing with our pals. Featuring live clips from Bovine Sex Club in Toronto, prior jam hall runs of the song, and behind-the-scenes moments from the recording process at ARC Recording Studio & This Place Needs A Name Studios. Block Parent went on hiatus at the end of 2024, but we all were extremely stoked on all the tunes, friends & memories we made throughout our run. Shit out this Full Length Album 5 years ago today! "Sick Year, Bro!" was a special one for us and we were pretty proud of these tunes. 🍼 Released on Compact Disc & Cassette... Thought we'd share what the guts of this release looked like. 🪱 We were pretty adamant about making sure the CD/tape inserts had a fat stack of panels packed with lyrics, art, and all that shit.... reminiscent of bringing home a new album back in the day and busting open the insert while laying on the couch… or sitting in the shitter pinching one out. Simpler times, baby! 🥖 Anybody got a physical copy of this? Did you like it? Did we please you? Love you critters!
