Tennessee just approved a congressional map that splits apart the state’s only majority-Black district and it’s feeling eerily familiar.
From carved-up districts to quiet voter suppression tactics, the playbook keeps changing but the target stays the same. Still, we rise.
Our power has never lived in lines on a map. It lives in our communities, our organizing, our voices, and our votes. And no district redraw can erase that. ✊🏾

Today, Ahmaud Arbery would have been 32.
What should have marked another year of life was stolen and replaced with pain, grief, and remembrance.
We honor Ahmaud by refusing to let his name fade. By continuing to fight for a world where Black men are free to exist, to grow old, and to make it home safely.
Rest in Power. ✊🏾

Andre Mackneil was picking up a birthday cake for his 3-year-old son. Ruth Whitfield had just visited her husband in a nursing home. Katherine Massey was a community advocate. Pearl Young was a church missionary.
A white supremacist drove over 200 miles to a Buffalo grocery store and murdered them and six others in cold blood.
Andre Mackneil. Katherine Massey. Heyward Patterson. Celestine Chaney. Roberta Drury. Margus Morrison. Ruth Whitfield. Pearl Young. Geraldine Talley. Aaron Salter.
Say their names.
Her name means “first fruits,” and she’s claiming it.
In 120+ years of Major League Baseball, a Black woman has never held majority ownership of an MLB franchise. Kwanza Jones is about to change that through a historic $3.9 billion purchase of the San Diego Padres.
Black excellence, not just on the field, but in the ownership too. 👏🏾

Haitian brilliance has left fingerprints on global culture, liberation movements, music, art, and beyond. We honor Haitian Heritage Month and the revolutionary spirit that continues to shape generations. 🇭🇹

We had the honor of gathering with impacted mothers at our Rise for Rest retreat.
It was beautiful to sit in community and witness their strength and love.
Too often on Mother’s Day, we forget the mothers whose arms were forced to let go due to police brutailty and systemic injustices. Black mothers deserve to grow old with their children and we will continue to fight for a world where they can.
Drop a 🖤 for Black mothers experiencing loss.
Black men make up less than 2% of teachers in the U.S., leaving too many students without a mirror in the classroom.
For 25 years, Leon Smith has been that mirror, helping students see their potential and step fully into who they can become.
Now, he has been named the 2026 National Teacher of the Year. A well-deserved honor and a powerful reminder that we need more of this.
A job well done! 👏🏾💐
Every classroom needs a Black teacher.
Not for diversity optics, but for the students who deserve to see themselves and the stories that don’t always make the curriculum.
Swipe to see Black teachers through @jasiahpowers ’ lens. 🍎
Drop some love for a Black teacher in the comments.

Black women are being targeted, disrespected, and harmed at alarming rates, and too often, it’s met with silence.
Protect Black women. In every space, no excuses.
