At Blindmargin we are proud to offer a selection of important etchings by the renowned Maltese artist Richard Saliba, now available on consignment.
Born in 1943, Richard Saliba trained at Malta’s Government School of Art (1960–1965) under masters Esprit Barthet, Vincent Apap, and George Borg. He later continued his studies in Italy, including etching techniques at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia.
With a career spanning over six decades, Saliba is celebrated for his luminous landscapes that capture the light, colour, and tranquil spirit of the Maltese and Gozitan countryside. His atmospheric works blend reality with a subtle dream-like quality, making him one of Malta’s most respected and sought-after artists.
Discover these rare and important etchings, along with other consigned pieces by established artists exclusively on our website:

Mark Sagona’s work immerses the viewer in a dense, atmospheric field where layered pigments, drips, and gestural marks build a sense of tension and depth. The surfaces feel weathered and immediate, with light emerging through darker tonal passages to create a subtle interplay between chaos and control. The mood often reflects the artist’s mental state at a given moment, while at times strong autobiographical undercurrents surface within the composition. These paintings invite a slower gaze, revealing traces of process and emotion embedded within their materiality.

New pen and ink work.
Jon builds his artwork through relentless, overlapping linear marks. Think of it as a controlled scribble that slowly coagulates into form. In this work you can see the faces taking shape only where the line density reaches a critical mass, the eyes, noses, and mouths are not drawn but revealed by the compression of thousands of tiny strokes. Lighter areas such as the forehead remain relatively open, while the darker zones become almost impenetrable webs. This is classic additive drawing: once the ink is down, there is no erasing, so every mark is both intentional and spontaneous.

Ryan Falzon (b. 1988) is a Maltese visual artist, published author, and art educator. His practice is characterised by an abrasive yet playful visual language, often constructing layered narratives through the arrangement of disparate images and texts in a collage-like format.
Since 2009, Falzon has participated in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Malta and across Europe. His body of work produced between 2016 and 2019 has become a significant point of reference within contemporary Maltese political and socially engaged art.
From 2020 onwards, Falzon shifted focus toward painting plants and domestic gardens, exploring themes of biophilia, intimacy, and post-pandemic psychological conditioning.
In 2023, he obtained a Master of Arts in Fine Arts with distinction from the University of Malta.

MARK SAGONA, Ph.D., is the Head of the Department of Art and Art History, Faculty of Arts, University of Malta, where he lectures in Fine Arts and Art History. He is a practising visual artist, academic, art historian and curator. Over the years, his art has moved on to research, interpret and explore a wide array of themes in a distinct personal timbre which combines boldness of expression, the sensuality of colour and the spirituality of light. The increased mixed-media experimentation with light and colour has become a dominant concern for the artist, both in his figurative and abstract works. His powerful abstracts find their roots in his early figurative and landscape compositions but have been increasingly invested with a spiritual dimension that is often the result of the artist’s state of mind at a given moment in time. In 2022, he curated ‘Identity of an Island’, a landmark exhibition of contemporary art held at Teatru Astra in Gozo.
