“We have always been fascinated by plants”, my dad said to someone in his dream, while we collected native plants from a field.
My nonno and nonna migrated to Argentina escaping from the misery of WW2 when they were young adults.
They settled in the rural area of the country, el litoral, in a field close to Chovet, a tiny village full of italians and yugoslavians pursuing opportunities and a better life.
I have the honor to trace my migrant background, because I was born in a family filled by storytellers. Some of the stories are 7 generations old. In a world of digital & ephemeral identity construction, I encourage ourselves to talk, to keep an ear open, to listen to the lineage wisdom and to honor it with care.
“Siempre nos fascinaron las plantas”, le decía mi papá a alguien en su sueño, mientras recolectamos yuyos nativos en el campo.
Mi nono y mi nonna emigraron a Argentina escapando de la miseria de la 2GM, cuando eran jóvenes.
Se asentaron en el litoral, en un campo cerca de Chovet, un pueblo lleno de italianos y yugoslavos buscando oportunidades y una vida mejor.
Tengo el honor de rastrear mi historia de migración, porque nací en una familia de contadorxs de historias. Algunas historias tienen 7 generaciones, o eso dicen. En un mundo de identidades digitales y efímeras, nos aliento a preguntar y escuchar la sabiduría del linaje, y honrarla con cuidado.
Fotografías de firmat: mi familia, el verde, las herramientas, las rosas de la nonna, las nuevas generaciones.
Una prueba de cámara que se convirtió en una historia. A mis hogares y mis amores.
