Self generating patch on the @serge_by_random_source La Bestia III with some awesome FM, but then I've used the Pont Neuf format jumbler and some very long cables to send some of the audio through the @intellijel Cascadia's phaser/filter.
LFO and tweaking ahoy...

Argh. I spent ages doing a cool video effect only for Premiere Pro to fail miserably at 99% each time, so here's a standard filter effect instead...
Anyway. I'm not at @superbooth_berlin 😩 Here's a jam though..
Finally got a @doepfer_musikelektronik A180-9 which means I can run CV from my @squarpinstruments Hapax over the other side of the room to the @serge_by_random_source via RJ45 cable.. 🤓
Serge is doing most of the synths including the really cool filter pinging thing (so so good), the bass (GTO as an LPG) and some chained wave folding.
@intellijel Cascadia is the pad, @rolandglobal R8 and the OG @1010_music Blackbox are providing drums. Effects from the mighty @eventideaudio H90

Playing about with the @serge_by_random_source Carnivore module on La Bestia III...
On the surface it looks like it smooths voltage, holds voltage, and has two trapezoidal envelopes. However... As soon as you start getting into patch programmability, all of that goes out of the window.

Spent today doing a thing with the @serge_by_random_source for @modular.world
Feels a bit weird. I've made and recorded tonnes of guitar things over the years but this will be the first time I've done anything solely synth and solely modular (albeit with a bit of Beetlecrab Tempera and reverb) that hasn't been a cheesy YouTube backing track...
It's only the first time once, right?

Attempt at the famous #krellpatch, this time on the @serge_by_random_source La Bestia III
The patch starts off as a looping GTS, where you use the end-of-loop pulse output to select a new random voltage from a Sample/Hold source using the Stepped Generator.
That random voltage is then used to control the pitch of a VCO, the shape of that VCO (you could use oscillator shape, wavefold amount etc), and - crucially - the rise and fall times of the GTS. This makes the GTS loop go around in a random period, so you get some short bursts, some long bursts etc.
The oscillator goes to a VCA which is then controlled by the output of the GTS. Twiddle knobs to taste.
I had a spare output to play with here, so ran some pink noise through another looped GTS acting as an LFO for the filter, and also stacked another cable onto the Stepped Generator to use for some randomised panning.

One of the things I like the most about the Serge setup is that you're not restricted to how you use modules.
No VCA, no problem. Run the audio through the wavefolder that collapses things to zero. Job done.
Need another one? Run it through the GTO and roll the rate all the way back. Amazing.
It sort of forces you to think outside of convention, which I think is why it tends to appeal to more experimental music creation. So here I am ruining that idea by playing chords and tunes on it 😂😂

A weekend of filming some stuff for the 'tube however I wanted to get back to playing with the Serge.
West-coast baby... This is all sine waves and wave folders, no sawtooths or filters in sight! Sequenced by the @squarpinstruments Hapax which now imports midi.

In honour of #worldpianoday..
I've never properly owned a playable piano. I acquired one from a neighbour who was moving out and couldn't bring themselves to dispose of it, so we carried it down to my basement where it sat.
Untuneable. Sticky keys. Wooden frame. The sort of thing that looks nice but ultimately can't play music any more.
So... It sat.
Eventually I needed the space. I managed to tune a few notes and tried recording them, but it was never going to be a proper piano sample library: I resorted to alternative methods... An eBow worked on some strings, hammers and blunt objects on others. Finally I needed to get it out of the house which meant removing the tension on the strings - I recorded the sound of me dremelling through the bass notes as a sort of last gasp of this thing before it went to the recycling centre.
I never knew quite what to make of the samples. Am borrowing the rather wonderful @beetlecrab.audio Tempera for a bit and decided to throw the audio on it. Haven't found anything that can work with granular playback in a similar way and am genuinely pleased with how this has turned out.
Even the sounds got recycled ♻️
