HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY. What better way to celebrate than booking a free ticket to our dancing Pot Luck? 🪩 6-8PM, Wednesday 6 May 🪩 Next week we are going to learn a dance together. You don’t have to have a dancing bone in your body: only the desire to move, a shimmy, a strut or a sway. It’s all about you honouring yourself, however you show up. 📍 Blast Theory Studio 🎫 Free entry - book via the link in our bio 🤔 What is Pot Luck? 🤔 Pot Luck is our unique social club for creative people. Hosted at the Blast Theory studios in Portslade every two months and led by artist Ju Row Farr, Pot Luck events are a chance to try things out, meet new people, get inspired and find new ways to move forward. Pot Luck is designed to build confidence, develop skills and facilitate connections. You might be looking for inspiration, changing direction, or, at the end of a course, thinking about what’s next. You might have a strong creative twinkle that needs attention; you might be working on a project and need something else. All sorts of people come with all kinds of creative experiences. There are always new faces as well as regulars: we never know who will be in the room, and that’s part of what makes it exciting. 🧐 Why do you use a Pay What You Can model? 🧐 Pot Luck is free to attend and always will be. Blast Theory is a charity and each Pot Luck costs around £800. If you’re able to make a donation, it helps us keep Pot Luck running. The guide on our checkout page will help you decide what feels right for your circumstances. There’s no wrong answer, no proof needed, and we understand your circumstances might change between events - that’s fine. But the idea is that those who can afford to give more help create space for those who can’t. #PotLuck #BrightonArtists #PortsladeCommunity #BrightonAndHoveEvents #BrightonAndHove

Join us next week for Resistance: Being An Artist In The World Today 🗓️ 6-8pm, Wednesday 18 March 2026 📍 Blast Theory Studio 🎫 Free entry How do you live in the world right now as an artist? Do you respond, resist, or quietly absorb? This Pot Luck is about what it means to make work in the current moment, and where the ‘political’ sits in what you do. We’ll explore different forms and starting points: what other artists are making directly in response to the times we’re in, where you find the political in your own practice, and how that might open up new ways of working. RSVP to our March Pot Luck by emailing [email protected]

As part of our interview series with speakers at Transformation Digital Art 2026, we spoke with Nick Tandavanitj of @blasttheory about the group's landmark project Rider Spoke, now reimagined as Rider Spoke: Here. Presented exclusively to symposium participants, this new edition draws on more than 22,000 archived recordings, inviting audiences to encounter intimate personal stories from cities worldwide. Tandavanitj reflects on the tension between our mediated lives and physical presence and why institutions such as LI-MA matter at a moment when technological change is constant but cultural memory is fragile. Read the full Q&A to learn how locative media, archives, and AI intersect in this renewed exploration of space → link in bio.

Coming up for Pot Luck in 2026... 📆 6 pm – 8 pm, Wednesday 7 January 2026 Our next Pot Luck will be all about writing to our future selves. We will get specific. We will make something without a screen. It will be something to keep and open at a decided time, for a reason you choose. Check out eighteenth-century cross-writing in advance, or photographer Sally Mann’s new book, Art Work, which includes a decades-long correspondence with another photographer. Or ponder on the last letter you wrote and what your future self might like to receive… 📆 6 pm – 8 pm, Wednesday 4 March 2026 At our March Pot Luck, we are going to learn a dance together. Pot Luck: Air Drying Clay Building 🗓️ 6-8pm, Wednesday 12 November 2025 📍 Blast Theory Studio 🎫 Free entry This one really is a Pot Luck for me too, as I’m not a natural with clay! But we will have fun and learn together, as we get our hands into some soft, juicy, air-dry clay. You can make anything you want... something useful, or perhaps a festive gift? It’s the last Pot Luck before the festive season, so suitable mood lighting, mulled wine and hot soup will be provided. Bring yourself, bring a friend, plus a contribution to the food would be very welcome - vegan or vegetarian preferred. There will be lots of inspiration, help and materials, plus boxes to take your work away in. Looking forward to seeing what occurs. And don’t forget to rsvp - [email protected] Warmest as always - Ju x #PortsladeCommunity #BrightonArtists #BrightonAndHoveEvents #BrightonSocials #PotLuck #BrightonAndHove

【展覽回顧|ACT Festival 】 “Proof, as if proof were needed” 是一句英文諺語,意味著不證自明,因為是如此顯而易見。 但是這句話又充滿矛盾,它強調了證明,但又著這個證明根本不是必要的。 例句:”The silence after his words was proof, as if proof were needed, that some truths can’t be spoken.”(他說完話後現場陷入沉默,再次印證有些真相無法被說出口。) 本次作品以此為名,指向了螢幕內外的屋子,一是這個屋子有人的存在,而觀眾和演員正在尋找這些人類/關係遺留的蹤跡。二則是屋子空無一人,我們只是在體驗一個虛幻的夢境。 ACT Festival 2025 時間|2025.09.05-09.14 地點|Theater 1, Complex Exhibition Hall 5, 3D Sound Production Studio (B4), International Conference Hall #act_festival photo credit: ACC (National Asian Culture Center, Korea)
