Meet Steve Cook, our new Executive Director. Steve has served as Blanchet's Co-Interim Director for the past five months and Director of Fundraising since 2024. He brings more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership, including work with Transition Projects Inc. Fluent in Spanish, he has worked throughout Latin America, notably with Habitat for Humanity Guatemala, supporting efforts to expand access to housing.
He also shares a connection with Blanchet House’s founders as a University of Portland graduate, earning an MBA in Nonprofit Management in 2025.
Following a thoughtful search process that included input from staff across the organization, Steve emerged as the clear choice to lead Blanchet into its next chapter. We’re grateful to have his leadership as Blanchet House approaches its 75th anniversary.

Our women’s shelter staff—Sarah, Tanya, Tray, and Amanda—made Mother’s Day brunch. They brought in an electric griddle to cook French toast and served it with fruit, pastries, and fresh flowers. Small acts of care can mean so much to someone going through a hard time. We’re grateful for our team.
We’re happy to welcome walkers during Rose Haven’s Reigning Roses Mother’s Day fundraiser. @rosehavenpdx Rose Haven is a great partner to our women's shelter, Bethanie’s Room. Many women staying with us visit Rose Haven during the day for showers, laundry, meals, and other support. We’re grateful to work together to care for women in Portland. 700 sack lunches ready to give out to anyone who’d like one. On Saturdays, we serve a hot lunch and offer sack lunches to go thanks to generous donors.
