Over the course of the last 10 years, 522 weeks, 3,652 days, I’ve played well over 1,560 shows at Zola in downtown Spokane. 3 different bands and residencies, and a handful of other projects and guest appearances. At Zola over the years I have: met my life partner, shared the stage with some of my musical heros, rallied support for our friends, grieved the loss of friends, held a sunday residency, held a thursday residency, held a saturday residency, played to literally no one, played to a full house with a line around the corner, met new friends that will last a lifetime, and parted ways with friends. I literally learned how to be a musician by playing here each week. Here I’ve cried, laughed, and jumped with joy. Here I’ve felt love, pain, gratitude. Here I’ve been drunk, sober, and high on life. Here I’ve been spittin’ mad, exuberantly happy, and silently sad. Here I’ve felt comfortable to be myself. Zola has felt like home for a really long time. After a lot of thought and deliberation, I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from playing here with my band. I need a change of pace and I’m ready to work on something new. I’ve experienced so much support and love from all of you, and the absolutely incredible, bad ass staff who has been there through thick and thin, 2 different ownership changes, and a pandemic. I’m so incredibly grateful for Zola, and the 1,500 + times they have allowed me space to play my music, work on my craft, build a following, and help make ends meet. This summer I’ll be in and out of Spo playing stadium shows with Uncle Al opening for Chris Stapleton. 🤯. Can’t wait to see you at the release show, and can’t wait to show you, in the fall, what we’re cooking up. Thank you Zola, Taijah, Shelly, Joey, Jonathan, Jared, Lindsay, Indy, Jordan, Mars, Gina, Kiks, Emily, Chuck, Skylar, and all the staff who bought and showed up to work in a piece of Börk merch. I love you all so much. I’ll see you on 6/4 at the Chameleon. New music :) With literally all the love, gratitude, and kindness we can muster, thank you. 💜 @zolainspokane Blake, Eddie, Juan, & Tristan.

Today marks one year of sobriety. I’ve been here before, but it’s a bit different this time around. It is with great relief that I am able to admit that I am an alcoholic. It took a lot of drinks for me to realize and accept. I used alcohol as a way to disassociate from my feelings. As a coping mechanism. All it managed to give me was a bunch of debt, stress, anxiety, depression. It caused me to isolate, all the while coming up with any and every excuse to not address the real underlying issues and in turn, drinking about it. It’s been a really long year and I’m so grateful for this new phase of life. Feels cool, gonna do it some more. In lieu of booze, I shifted to seltzer water. Specifically, @polarseltzer which is the best no question. plz sponsor me polar. Anywho, I love you. Thank you to my love, @angelarooth for your unwavering love, support, and patience. Big shouts to my therapist for always keeping it a buck. And thank you to my friends in the Al Stone band (@allenstone @andrejzapata @swattykins @tristanhartpierce @tyronehendrix @j_la_rae @finallygavein @noontimeboss )for encouraging me to stay strong while on the road, and allowing space in the bus fridge for my polars. 😂 Here’s to more years of sobriety, music, friendship, & polar seltzers. I love you. Oh, and go listen to my new song plz.
