A few weeks ago, I started a training cycle with @coachjfire and am really excited for "some gains," as they say, while the climbing reason ramps up around here. In 17 years of climbing, I've gone through maybe 6 or 7 very deliberate, multi-month training cycles and each one has taught me about my body, getting stronger, maintaining, and (especially lately) the true power that lies in recovery. Food, sleep, rest days, hydration, low volume, play days... all of these are part of getting strong, especially as the years of living and climbing accumulate. Specifically, my bedrocks of recovery are: 💪 Getting enough protein ALL WEEK when I'm climbing and training hard. Through whole foods and snacks with @gnarlynutrition protein powders, it's become part of my routine. 🩸Tracking my cycle and adjusting my food, expectations, and reps accordingly so I can really love being a female athlete, rather than be confused and disappointed half the time. 😴Lots of sleep, 9 hours as often as possible. 🥤My Power Drink™️ with Gnarly collagen, creatine, performance greens, and hydrate to pre-recover on big days out 🐟Gnarly Omega 3s and Magnesium at night for muscle synthesis (and great sleep!) Sometimes, it feels like a part time job, recovering. But when I consider how much training I'm doing, the thought of it not "counting" because I'm OVERworked... I'm not into that. What is working really well in your recovery? Anything you've learned lately that you're trying out?

@tenayaclimbing made something really special with the Indalo. "Designed to put more resources on your foot, you will be surprised by its wide range of response and above all its ability to provide solutions when using all types of difficult footholds. With a behavior that is neither too soft nor too structured, Indalo has a perfect balance between all its features and offers the best performance both in bouldering and on vertical and overhanging routes." Hard to put it any better than that. And, I gave it a try in this honest review. #tenayaclimbing #performanceclimbing #tenayausa #libertymountain #libmtn

A handful of years ago, @gnarlynutrition really up-d their commitment to sustainability when they started using steel canisters for their products. When they made that transition, I learned that steel is actually one of the most recycled materials - the cost-benefit 💰is there, AND they use big magnet cranes to pull it out of piles of garbage and mixed recycling. 🧲 Recently, I decided to spruce up the canisters I have been reusing for flour, rice, etc. and I wanted to share. I'm trying to get away from plastic, and these are an excellent example of *reusability,* way better than recycling. Simple tools for the job: 🫟 Spray paint of choice (let them dry and degas for a couple days before you bring them in...) 📼 Dry erase tape for the labels 🖊️Permanent marker for writing labels 🧴Hand san or rubbing alcohol to remove writing

Being involved with @gnarlynutrition over the last 5+ years has been so fun and fruitful 🍓 Recently, they decided to put your ol' friend Blake on their sample pack, and I think that's pretty neat 😎😁 #gnarlynutrition #gognarly

First Blood, Chek, Squamish Sending this route and making this video really just makes me want to talk about women's hormones and cycles while trying to try hard...🩸🍒 But I'll leave that to conversations around fires, and over beers, and under rock climbs. #firstbloodsquamish #squamishrockclimbing #cheakamus #libmtn #tenayaclimbers #makeithappen @tenayaclimbing @singingrock_official @libmtn #libmtnathlete

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to work with @eoseattle , where they experienced the super-power of curiosity. We dove into this anti-fragile skill experientially and conversationally, through skill building, practice, and take-home action steps. After our time together, I was lucky enough to receive some candid feedback. Here is a great summary of our day by @peter.chee , entrepreneur and all-around badass. If anyone else out here in internetland is interested in making your team even smarter, shoot me a message and let's set up a chat. I've got space in my fall schedule for one more team.

Climbing has always been the source of many things for me. Like the hub of a wheel, there are spokes of community, nature, movement, performance, personal growth, adventure, play... even sometimes, when the breeze is just right with my mood, there is profound sensuality 💃 It's fantastic, truly awesome, and not always pretty. Since 2020, there has been an additional spoke of ambassadorship heralding incredible people and places into my wheel of climbing. Even sometimes, when the timing is just right, I get to test products, see myself in stunning photos, and get paid. It's engaging and rewarding, though I'm not always certain I'm the right woman for the job. 🤷‍♀️😎 This year, I signed with @tenayaclimbing shoes, from España and am sincerely excited to share my experiences with them. I took a chance, only knowing one or two of their shoes, and am so happy with every pair I have tried and tested (more on that in the coming weeks). I am also lucky to be working with @Singingrock_official , the Czech mainstay of climbing hardware. Down to earth and effective, (with a side of 90's metal eastern European nonchalance), Singing Rock is fit for climbers from the gym to big walls, and I think that is really f***ing cool. All that goodness, AND THEN... I had the incredible privilege to capture these two brands with the one and only, @nikkik_smith of @pullphoto . Alongside my good friend and fellow athlete, @Remyfranklin we explored a bit of California's Eastern Sierras, took some stunning pictures, nap breaks at Tenaya Lake, and talked about life, feminism, climbing, and how long until the sun sets... Here are some of my favorites from my set. Enjoy! #performanceclimbing #libmtn #libmtnathlete #tenayaclimbers #makeithappen #singingrock

A few weeks ago, I turned 39. We also hiked 38 miles in a day, shortly after. It was a dumb idea, and totally awesome. At one point I sobbed, but only @the_mountain_accountant heard so it's like it didn't happen. This is a picture of me at 6am, waiting for my climbing partner to poop so we can hike for 2 hours, climb for 8, and then drive home. Lastly, and most importantly, I've decided saying I'm 39 is just too much hassle. Too many syllables, just a bit extra. Thurdee-nyyyynn. See? This is my public announcement that for the next two years, I'm 40. Fordee. See? Nice and tidy.

The summer trip has begun... In a tragically burned out forest (71,672 acres) with some of the most exquisite textures I couldn't help but appreciate and touch and try to capture. With finding, cleaning, and climbing random boulders at +10,000' elevation with Matt. And with Barley's first porcupine encounter 💉. Forty quills removed, including one that went all the way through his little doggy lip. What are you looking forward to as the weather warms and the sunshine lengthens? Xoxo
