Through the Fig Tree
A narrative web experience at the intersection of digital filmmaking, and interactive storytelling.
Based on the heartbreaking and timeless novel “the bell jar” by Sylvia Plath, the quote is a metaphor for the paralysis of choice, representing the anxiety of having to select one life path (career, marriage, identity) while fearing the loss of all other potential futures.
Built by three brothers in one week for the Runway AI Film Festival.

I had the incredible privilege of sitting on a panel at the 54 Film Fest with powerhouse directors JR Robles, Alex Bowling, Dylan King, and Eddie Bowen.
It was an absolute honor to share the stage with these seasoned pros and dive into conversations about filmmaking, including my recent short film, Brothers in Arms.
When I first started participating in the 54 Film Fest years ago, I looked up to the filmmakers sitting exactly where I am today. Being on this side of the stage now feels like a genuine full-circle moment. Big thank you to Ben Jones and Richard Chilton for bringing this event together, this experience was both humbling and inspiring!

Getting the opportunity to direct a film for a song this personal to @tajcicameron was a privilege. We filmed this special video around some of the most beautiful places in Croatia. It only felt fitting to bring this story about young Tajči and her mother to life on the very same land that her family and ancestors grew up on in old Zagorje.

Special thank you to @evbarfilm , who took 8 hours of my crazy, shaky footage and turned it into a masterpiece.

And to be able to shoot in my home country with my best friends @christopherwayneburns and @chloe.e.stowe was a dream come true.

And to the lyrical genius' of @prinzuta & @tajcicameron , this song is uniquely heartfelt and heartbreaking:
"i suza za krah" - a tear for the end, a tear for goodbye.
This story follows a daughter, thrilled to return to her mother… only to leave again. Because in reality, we do get to see our family, on reunions or trips back home. But in the end we always have to return to normal life, and leave.
