for those who may not know, lawrence is @sherrie_rena_ 7 year old nephew—who I now proudly call my nephew. I first handed him my mickey-matic 110 film camera when he was just 5 years old, at his papa g’s car show. i’ll never forget the spark in his eyes as Lawrence experimented with this camera that was decades older than him.
fast forward two years, and this project was born.
from a kid born in inglewood (me) to a kid growing up in inglewood (lawrence), this exhibit means more than words can describe. I’m deeply grateful to sip & sonder for giving us this platform to show our work side by side—and for providing a space where creative kids can dream bigger than they could ever imagine.
lastly, i stumbled on some old photos from my 4th birthday. grandma gave me my very first camera— a playskool 110 film camera. so if you’ve ever wondered why I obsess over this format…it was written long before I even realized.
i do it for that little boy with big dreams. hope he’s proud.

After they selected their favorite images and desired color palette, we transformed these moments into timeless, personalized pieces.
