YEAH NAH
YEAH
Hot fucking damn. I was gonna make this page reel only, laser focused on sours and beers that would attract non-beer drinkers. But @blacksandsbrewing said fuck that with this West Coast Pilsner. @indiehops hopped on board for a collab that's kinda blowing my mind. A little malty heft hoists the papaya and peach flavours on its shoulders and lets them bop around on your tastebuds. I wasn't prepared for such clear and bright fruit flavours. WHY HAVEN'T THEY POSTED THIS TO THEIR SOCIALS?! A bad sleep yesterday put my ADHD in overdrive but this has calmed it down. Stunning.
After 13½ amazing years, our family has made the emotional decision to put Black Sands Brewing up for sale.
This was a massive call for us to make and took a lot of deliberation. This decision is not due to tough industry conditions and certainly isnāt because the business is struggling, because in fact, the opposite is true. The brewery is in great financial shape and continues to organically grow with each passing year. But for us, the decision ultimately comes down to family.
Dad started brewing beer with his best mates down in the basement almost a decade and a half ago and what was originally called Landing Road Brewing formed the foundation of what would become Black Sands Brewing Company. After turning 71 last year, Dad is now ready for a well-earned retirement and some long-overdue travel together with Mum, and Iāll be heading to Melbourne later this year to chase a new career in another family business.
Therefore we feel the best thing we can do is to pass the brewery on to someone new who can take it into its next chapter.
Black Sands has been a huge part of our lives and the West Auckland community, and weāre incredibly proud of what it has become. Weāre also very grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way. From our supportive friends and family to the many bars, bottle stores and supermarkets across New Zealand who back our beer.
Itās definitely bittersweet, but weāre excited to see what the future holds for the brewery.
Please feel to check out the link to the listing in our bio and pass it on to anyone you feel could be interested in and worth of this rare passing of the brewing paddle. ā¤ļø šŗ
Cheers,
Craig & the Hebblethwaite family š»

Black Sands Brewing and The Broken Lantern present: LATEST SQUEEZE GUAVA IPA
Latest Squeeze Vol. 12 is a tropical escape to guava paradise. This IPA is packed with juicy, ripe guava, perfectly complementing the pillowy, smooth mouthfeel. Lashings of NZ grown Rakau and Moutere hops provide a vibrant fruitiness, touch of sweetness and a balanced hop bitterness to seal the deal. Best enjoyed fresh, cold and with good company.

LAUNCHING TONIGHT @smallgodstaproom
Mr. VodnĆk is a full flavoured and complex Czech Amber Lager. A rounded base of Munich malt is supported by selected speciality malts to bring notes of brown toast and digestive biscuits with a slight ruby highlight. A touch of sweetness from the malt is offset by a clean and snappy finish from the use of classic Saaz hops making it a delicious and easy drinking session beer. Na zdravĆ!
Itās a peaceful afternoon by the shore. You sit in quiet contemplation as ripples in the sullen pondwater cast mesmeric reflections of the sun as it peeks shyly from behind steel-grey clouds . A musty smell is the first indication that youāre not alone. The pungent aroma is trailed by shuffling footsteps as Mr. VodnĆk breaks your reverie. Heās an unusual fellow with sallow grey skin, clutching a lidded teacup tightly in a mottled hand. A pipe bearing years of careful use pokes out from behind a beard, matted like seaweed and the smoke winds its way in shifting whorls to add to a deep brown stain on his odd hat. He arranges himself next to you and waits watching the water. The locals are familiar with him and they all know not to go swim here lest their souls be added to his collection. So he waits, bored. Itās almost time for supper and the market is closed so you know there is only one thing that will keep him occupied, lest he start looking for souls more proactively. You take a pinch of your own tobacco and sprinkle it into the water. āHere is your tobacco, Mr. VodnĆk, now give me a fish.ā
