Such an incredible week travelling the @coastalartstrail_nz This carousel traces the journey from Taranaki, to Whanganui, to Palmerston North — the photos are very janky as they were mostly to document names and places to match up to our video footage (taken with @barefootgorilla ) — but I wanted to share the BTS before we release the full story! @govettbrewster , @sarjeantgallery and @temanawanz are the pillar galleries on the trail (the cover of this carousel was taken standing in front of @debrabustinarchive ’s work in 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚, 𝙖𝙘𝙩, 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 at @govettbrewster ) — but what was also really cool was visiting artist collectives and studios and seeing work that might not be on view anywhere else — raku ceramics by Gaye Atkinson and @floblydephotography ’s works at Gables Gallery, beeswax artworks at @fentonstreetgallery (and trying their home distilled gin inspired by Shakespeare!), ceramic grocery bags by Hannah Watson at @goverstgallery , Frances Stachl’s jewelry (not on the trail but in the heart of Whanganui), Angela at @utopia.gallery.nz (not pictured here but such a cool space), @blackpixieblack ’s positivity charms at @eightyeightputiki , @amandapandaceramics at @feildingart , @teaturanginepiaclamp ’s sculpture and Lance Fitness’s tukutuku at @squareedgecommunityarts , visiting @slowwoven_textilestudio and her father @graham.christensen.nz.artist in their studio (Graham’s studio was filled with landscape paintings but he has also just returned to painting these quite amazing shadowy interior psyche works based on his rural life) — plus the many public artworks we encountered incl Children of the Earth by @reecerongonui Hospitality awards go to Saddlehills in Palmerston North (impeccable!!! soft cotton sheets, generous sized bath, cows milling around outside) and Momoji Japanese Restaurant in Whanganui which had the best bento box! The surprise of the trip went to @feildingart , who have a selection of Dali prints etc that they sell annually to fundraise (pictured in the office) — also @artbytherivernz who had a whole wall of prints by Tracey Emin, Warhol, Picasso, etc Partnership @coastalartstrail_nz

Throughout 2025, we got to peek behind the curtain into the studios of eleven incredible artisans through the Felt Meet the Maker blog series. The Felt team would like to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful makers who have been featured - you’re truly inspiring! Meet the Maker is all about getting to know the people behind all the incredible creativity we see here on Felt. In the first half of the year we saw a wide range of crafts, from intricate basket weaving to succulent soap making. 📸 Tamar Guse of tamargusefibre.felt.co.nz 📸 Lisa Yuyi of mermadepearls.felt.co.nz 📸 Kim and Chris of borntobeboho.felt.co.nz 📸 Jillaine Murray of theblackpixie.felt.co.nz 📸 Natasha Christensen of slowwoven.felt.co.nz 📸 Mark MacDonald of rivermill.felt.co.nz Read more below 👇 felt.co.nz/blog/meet-the-maker/thank-you-to-all-our-fabulous-featured-makers-of-2025/ We’re looking forward to getting to know more amazing Kiwi makers in 2026 🙂. #feltnz #finditonfelt #shoplocalnz #shopsmallnz #nzmade #madeinnz #newzealand #nzdesign #supportlocalnz #nzmadeproducts #lovelocal #makersmovement #nzartist #handmadenz #handmadeinnz #kiwi #aotearoa #nz

This year my painting has taken a bit of a back seat as I made way for other things happening in life. The first half was spent saying goodbye to my Dad 🥺 The second to beginning a new life chapter selling our home. 🏠 Most recently moving house has been the task at hand. No time for brushes! We have been in for just over a week and I am absolutely in love with our new spot with water views and not a shop in sight other than the local flower stall. 💐 I think I have bought more art this year than I sold to be honest and that’s been a lot of fun. Settling into our new home, for me, means hanging art as quickly as possible! 🖼️ I want to celebrate the incredible NZ artists we have - along with a couple outside of NZ from Oz and US in this mix. Thanks for bringing colour and life into this world that is pretty chaotic currently. Meri Kirihimete everyone 🎄 See you next year for some new endeavours that may move outside of paint, as I delve into some other creative mediums! Thanks for supporting me and for being here alongside me Jo x
