Look at this lineup!!! We’re bringing out our colleagues who are actively collecting, preserving, and sharing Black arts writing ephemera for a for a two-day convening in Seattle! ▶️ Swipe to see the who’s who and CLICK THE LINK in bio to RSVP and join us! ✍🏾The (Printed) Matter of Black Arts Writing: Archives for the Future considers what it means to engage with the printed matter of Black art worlds—flyers, pamphlets, zines, notebooks, and books—at a time when the digital is often assumed to be the primary and most permanent repository of knowledge. Through public and private conversations and workshops, the program explores the significance of gathering around materials that are fragile and prone to disappearance, and reflects on how contemporary practices of preserving and circulating Black arts writing ephemera shape future intersections of Black art, writing, and community. How do we gather around objects that fade, crease, and disappear—and what do those gatherings reveal about the futures of Black art, writing, and community? *mic drop* 🎤 join us!

Join me online this Thursday February 12, 2026, to kick off the new Winter/Spring 2026 Osher Map Library “Founding Memories: America at 250” Lecture Series, in conjunction with their current gallery exhibition. Live Webinar Lecture: Revolutionary Dreams: A Black Power Bicentennial Thursday, February 12, 2026, 6pm-7:30pm ET REGISTER HERE to receive the webinar link and additional details: /e/revolutionary-dreams-a-black-power-bicentennial-tickets-1981797231869 Link also in bio. Lecture Description: In this live virtual talk (via Zoom webinar), Dr. Amber N. Wiley discusses both her scholarly and pedagogical approaches to analyzing American history through the lens of the Afro-American Bicentennial Corporation (ABC). Inspired by the ABC’s work to identify and protect cultural landscapes related to Black American achievements ahead of the 1976 commemoration of the American Revolution, Wiley has taken up their charge to “continue the revolution” through the “process of decolonization, a movement toward self-realization and self-government by people determined not to be kept in a subject status.” The lecture will highlight Wiley’s public history, preservation, and teaching work in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC related to revolutionary histories in each locale. The Osher Map Library’s Founding Memories Lecture Series is supported by a grant from the Maine Semiquincentennial Commission with funding provided by the Maine State Archives and the Maine State Cultural Affairs Council.

“The Radical Jackie Ormes” has been installed in Morris Library along with the book display. I couldn’t have done the installation and display without the help of Alison Wessel & Demetra McBrayer.
