Sunday June 21, I'm releasing my brand new album "In Love and War"
@eddiesattic and it would mean the world to me to see as many of you out there as possible and feel your support. This project has been one of the most deeply personal projects I've worked on in my career so far, and I'm really over the moon to be nearing its release. These songs came about by putting pen to paper about my frustrations with the state of the world and our government in this current climate, as well as struggling to manage everyday life in the face of warmongering, genocide, the repression of people's rights and individuality, and what feels like everything falling apart...
It can be so hard to work through your own life when the world around you doesn't even make sense. Things like love can feel so difficult, and distant when you know bombs are literally dropping. The thing about love and war, is that they are oddly very connected. Love intensifies between individuals during hardships, and love is often the reasons our family members go to fight in wartime; To protect those that they love. Love answers the grief and fear that comes with war. While love can occasionally feel just as scary, love and empathy help us find our way back to the light when we've been lost in the darkness.
That's what I went into this record mulling over in my head and trying to channel. I'm so blessed to have worked with friends who could see and hear my vision for this project and capture those intense emotions, imprinting them into the music. I went to Nashville to make these ideas a reality and I really think Andy Becky, the folks over Cellotree, and myself made that happen. Here's a huge thank you to Andy, Sarah Clanton, Cast Iron Shoes, and Maggie Monica for being a part of this album, and making that vision come to fruition. I love you all tons, and I'm excited to share your talents with folks both near and far.
P.S. A massive shoutout to my dear Mother,
@amiblackshear for translating my ideas about this music into a visual representation that conveys the levity of such critical ideas. I am amazed by your immensely talent, and forever indebted to your support. Love you. Mama.
