🐢 🐅 Azure 🐉🦅 @bitewinggames [Gifted] 🎯 Place out stones to invoke the power of 4 auspicious beats. Playing stones will gain you Boons in the form of Qi (cards) and/or Wisdom (points). You will pay cards matching the territory type for each boon pictured on the square, however discounts apply for each of your stones in the same row/column that aren't blocked by mountain spaces. (The coloured blocks the beast start upon). Fulfilling the conditions for each beast will invoke their individual power e.g. the Azure Dragon will grant you 3 wisdom points if you have 2+ stones in that beast's row and/or column. However if your opponent then places out more stones than you in the beast's row/column they will take the dragon from you and gain 3 points whilst you will lose those 3 points. This applies to all beast's abilities making it a tense tug of war passing back and forth between you. The first person to reach 25 points wins the game or if you're opponent is unable to place out a new stone 💭 I have been enjoying this so much! I've played it a bunch the last few weeks and also on BGA when I haven't been able to play physically. I love that it's so quick to play and set up, so it's fab for a weekday evening. It has a nice level of strategy without being too brain burny. It has variable set up with the different configurations of the board sections to mix things up game to game. There's also a module with powerful one-time abilities. The production quality is really good, the stones look good enough to eat 😋 and I think the art is wonderful. It's all about striking a balance between collecting cards and earning points as fast as you can as it is essentially a race to 25 points. If you are unable to place a stone out on your turn you lose. It is a little underwhelming when it ends this way as there's usually only 1 turn in it and in almost all of our games that have ended this way, it is the person who has gained the aid of the turtle as it requires an extra stone being placed on the board. Overall though, this is a very streamlined, light abstract game with tight scoring that I recommend giving a go if you often play at 2 players! #gameoftheweek @tubbsplaysgames

Azure — Game Night Nuggets Review 🧠 Vibe: strategic, area-control, abstract 📦 Presence: medium footprint, medium think, highly replayable ⏱️ Time: ~20–30 minutes 👥 Played at: 2 players Experience: This one ended up having a lot more depth than I expected — and I really liked it. The gameplay reminded me a bit of Go, with each placement feeling more important as the board fills in. The goal is to collect cards and earn points, with the first player to 25 winning the game. The shifting board setups give each play a different feel and make the strategy surprisingly replayable. It’s easy to learn the basics, but the decisions become more layered the longer you play. The artwork is also gorgeous and gives the whole experience a calm, thoughtful atmosphere even while you’re trying to outmaneuver each other. This ended up being one of those games that kept making me think about my moves even after my turn was over. Disclosure: This game was provided to me for review, but all opinions are my own. ⚔️ Moytura ⚔️ Irish mythology really doesn’t get enough board game love, and Moytura makes a strong case for why that should change. It pulls from the legendary Battles of Magh Tuireadh, where ancient factions clash for control of Ireland, and turns it into a tight, strategic area control game from @bitewinggames . At its core, you’re choosing deity tiles from a shared track, triggering actions to move units, spread influence, and deal with enemy clans. The twist is that once a deity is used, it jumps to the most expensive spot on the track, reshaping what’s available next and keeping every decision feeling slightly uncomfortable in the best way. Those enemy clans, such as the Fomorians, act like a third presence on the board, constantly spreading and forcing you to react. You’re never just focusing on your opponent, you’re also trying to stop the map from spiralling out of control. It creates this interesting tension where cooperation makes sense… until it doesn’t anymore. It also works surprisingly well solo, thanks to how naturally the enemy system scales, and the expansions push that chaos even further without overcomplicating things. What stood out most for me was how easy it is to learn compared to how tense it actually feels to play. The rules are straightforward, but the decisions are anything but. Add in the fact that the board steadily becomes this shifting battlefield of influence and it all feels very alive in play. Visually, it’s a stunner. The artwork gives the game a strong sense of atmosphere, and the components are satisfying in that very “this feels good to move around the table” way. It’s one of those games where the state of the board alone tells a story by the end. It is also not an easy win. Mistakes matter, timing matters, and things can swing quickly if you’re not paying attention. It keeps you engaged right to the end, whether you’re playing solo or head-to-head. If you enjoy tactical area control games with a strong theme, a bit of pressure from a third system, and a table presence that really pulls you in, Moytura is well worth a look. ⚔️⚔️⚔️ As always, a big shout out to Dougal at @ancientrobotgames for teaching this one!

My #review of #azureboardgame by @bitewinggames is now live on my blog! Today I do a deep dive into this abstract two-player game from what is quickly becoming one of my favorite publishers, and this entry into their Mythos Collection is sublime! Players set up the four Domain Boards to start and with each having four separate orientations, along with double-sided alternate boards, there are over 10,000 possible layouts! What starts off as a simple-looking area control game turns into a battle for the favor the four Auspicious Beasts and control of their Mountains. As players each put their stones on the board, they will appreciate the fantastic quality of the components found in the game, which has become a staple for games that I have played from Bitewing Games. It’s a brilliant and tightly balanced two player experience that once again has shown me that Bitewing Games can take a mechanic I’m not terribly fond of and make something incredible. Got Moytura @bitewinggames back to the table. Boy do I love this game. It really is amazing what bitewing has been able to pull off so far with their 2 player mythological series! Every game has been great at minimum and I think Moytura sits at the top. Being able to pull off a solid 2 player only area control game in the first place is quite a feat. The only other one I can think of is blitzkrieg, but that's really more of a tracks game than area control. What makes Moytura work is having the 3rd ai faction that both players are always in contention with. I also love that you don't actually attack the other player even though you are still in competition with them, even more the same territory at times. We were unable to beat the AI player in our last 2 plays so we might have to team up more than we originally thought on the next go! A must have 2 player dueling game! #boardgamecouple #gamenight #areacontrolgames #boardgameaddict #brettspiel @bitewinggames @zolamod.co

✒️ Ichor (2025) 🦦⚔️🦔 by TeamAlper 🦔 . I really loved this. Smart, fast, simple, gorgeous, and a lot more layered than it first appears. . What really worked for me is the powers. You only get six (or 7 on the larger board) of them in a given game, and most of the time the interesting part is not actually using them. It is the threat of them. The board is open, everything is visible, and you keep having to think about which spaces and lines are actually safe while those powers are still available. . That also gives the game a lot of replayability. Since each match only uses 6 of the 12 gods and monsters, the same core system keeps producing different tensions and priorities depending on who shows up. The rules stay clean, but the puzzle keeps shifting. . And the scoring system is one of my favorite Knizia things here. Ichor is not about winning a single game and moving on. Sometimes it is better not to rush the finish, but to improve your margin and make the rematch harder for the other player. That gives the second session a lot more meaning. . A brilliant little duel: easy to teach, hard to read perfectly, and full of threat, tempo, and really satisfying board tension. . #Ichor #ReinerKnizia #TwoPlayerGames #BoardGames #AbstractStrategy TabletopGaming

Azure (@bitewinggames ) has not only been popular with us, but also other content creators have been talking about it like crazy. I get messages talking about how good it is and how they cannot wait for their copy to arrive. I really like abstract 2-player games. This is another one that excels at what it is. If you are teaching a new player, there is a slight learning curve, but once they figure it out they become a more challenging opponent. I need to find a copy of the Cosmos expansion and see how that switches it up. Have you tried Azure? Game provided by the publisher. Azure by @bitewinggames is hitting the table once again. This game took our office by storm. Easy rules and the deep tactical nature make this game very engaging. The board changes every game and so the puzzle is always different. Another great 2 player game! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ #boardgames #boardgame #bgg #strategy #fun

Azure 🐉🐅🐦‍🔥🐢 Published by @bitewinggames In Azure, you’re channeling the power of the Four Auspicious Beasts—guiding lines of energy across the land, placing stones, collecting qi, and racing up the path of wisdom. It’s a tight 2-player abstract that blends spatial strategy with hand management in a really elegant way. ✨Our thoughts: 🌟The core puzzle of placing stones and reducing costs through “bonds” is incredibly fun, especially when you can drop a stone for free. 🌟The constant tug-of-war over the Four Auspicious Beasts adds just the right amount of tension, especially as control can swing back and forth each turn. 🌟The gameplay is thinky without being overwhelming, and plays quickly while still giving you plenty to chew on. 🌟The production is phenomenal and the artwork is stunning. The whole package looks and feels like a deluxe edition. The Mythos Collection continues to impress, and Azure feels right at home as a beautiful, compact strategy experience. This is an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys thoughtful 2-player strategy games! *Review copy provided by the publisher @asmodee_usa @asmodee_games #azureboardgame #bitewing #boardgames #boardgamegeek #bgg

The Moytura (@bitewinggames ) solo mode has you playing as both the white and black units. You will balancing both to ensure both colors beat the enemies. It was a fun puzzle attacking the enemy and making sure both move up in points. I enjoyed playing with the advanced enemies. The banshees were my favorite because they can pop up anywhere on the map and are very unpredictable. This makes me want to try the expansion even more since it adds even more enemies. Have you tried the solo mode for Moytura? Game provided by the publisher. No other compensation given. #boardgames #2playergames #sologaming #moytura #bitewinggames
