We are 1 year old! Can't believe it. Thank you to everyone who has made this crazy dream possible. It has been a wonderful year and we are truly overwhelmed by the support that we have had from everyone. We wouldn't exist without the help of so many people including our neighbours @logan_malloch and @argonautbooks , artists like @ross.macrae.art who did our mural and @charleylionsigns who created our logo and merch, @skelastudio who designed the shop interior and countless others who have brought Ancient Robot to life. But most of all I would like to thank everyone in our community who have enabled us in every way possible to create a fun and inclusive space for all to enjoy games. It’s Monday but, to make the start of a new week a little easier, here are a bunch of new games we have at the shop! Mantis Falls 🔪 A sometimes cooperative game of hidden rolls and social deduction. As a witness to something you should not have seen, you must escape the town of Mantis Falls and the mob that hunts you. The other players could be witnesses like you, or they could be assassins. Whether or not you trust them is core to how you will play, and if you will win, this game. Pyradice 🎲 Pyradice is a simple to play, two player game. As part of an ancient, pyramid building civilisation, you will try to get the best stones from the quarry to create your pyramid and earn the most points at the end of the game. Frontier Scum 🐴 Frontier scum is a rules light revolver spinning, Western RPG. Inspired by films like Bone Tomohawk, which gives you a sense of the kind of pulpy, gnarly game it’s aiming to be. If you’re looking for a grim western RPG but want to keep away from the more overtly fantastical elements of titles like Deadlands Reloaded, this is for you! Blorp 🫟 An easy to learn, quick playing tile laying game, Blorp is a great option for a young person getting into board games. Try to make the longest contiguous coloured shape you can, this title is wonderfully silly, irreverent and approachable. Devious 🧚‍♂️ Devious is an anti-set collection game, sort of like the opposite of a trick taking game. You’re looking to get a hand with the highest scoring fairy possible of each suit. However, any additional fairy’s of the same suit you collect count as negative points. Devious is a fascinating subversion of the trick taking format, we’re really excited to see what people make of it. That’s everything we’ve got in at the moment. Here’s a question: have you ever wanted to play as an animated skeleton wearing a faux meat suit? What am I saying, of course you have! What a stupid thing to even wonder! Well, in that case, welcome to Skin City. ☠️ Skin City is a light-weight TTRPG based on the Into the Odd rules from Chris McDowall. You play as a skeleton serving your glorious leader, Vertrabis Major. Your mission, you have no choice if you accept it, is to infiltrate the lat human stronghold. However, be careful. If your meat suit takes too much damage, it will fail and reveal you as the animated skeleton you are. Humans don’t want animated skeletons in their city, thank you very much, and will do everything in their power to drive you out. We are really excited to have this game here at the shop. The Into the Odd rules are absolutely fantastic and it’s great to see weird, brilliant projects like this use them. Pop down to the shop, have a leaf through the book and see if it’s something that tickles your funny bone 🦴 #ancientrobotgames

We’ve got a brand new Skirmish wargame here at the shop - Blkout! Blkout is a skirmish game described by its developers as fast, hardcore and tactical, which is a pretty perfect description. The miniatures are all 32mm near future special operatives, interspersed with androids and mechs. It definitely leans into the rugged, realistic, tacticool aesthetic which complements the rules. Speaking of which, the rules can actually be found online for free. Games are played at lighting speed and you can get one finished within 30 minutes. Each operative has only a single health point which makes battles feel frenetic, chaotic and violent. The fact the games are so short is a real selling point, at least for us. With so many of us having such limited time, it’s a real treat to be able to just throw down some miniatures and fit a game into what time we have. We’re really excited to have Blkout here at the shop and we can’t wait to see people get some games on the table! #ancientrobotgames

🚨 We’ve got a couple of big releases here at the shop today! 🚣‍♂️ Even Deeper Regrets is an expansion to the Lovecraftian fishing game Deep Regrets. Made by a local designer, Even Deeper Regrets massively expands the base game with a new sea to explore, inland fishing, pets and a grisly new plague that’s spreading across the sea. We are incredibly excited to get this one here at the shop and if you’re a fan of Deep Regrets, absolutely don’t sleep on this one. We finally have Riftbound: Unleashed here at the shop! The Riftbound CCG has proved incredibly popular so we are stocked to have it back in. These are two pretty big releases here today but which are you most excited for? #ancientrobotgames
