Event Recap: Circulating the Black Dollar
@blinkequity Co-hosted a phenomenal event with @intuit_aan at @intuitcanada in honor of #blackbusinessmonth
Guest speakers included:
Founders of @nobellum - Melisa Ellis, @bfncommunity Efosa Obano,
@bkrcapital - Isaac Olowolafe, @getwoveo - Jonah Chininga and Councillor Martin Reid @reid4ward9
The host we appreciate the most @brandongonez facilitated an engaging and impactful panel discussion 👏🏾
Here are 10 key takeaways from the panel discussion:
1. If you want to get advice, ask for money
2. Build relationships organically without asking for money to attract investors and mentors for your business
3. Make sure investors care about your project
4. Build institutional relationships and change the narrative within various institutions
5. Your track record will speak volumes
6. Don't be quick to give away equity in your business
7. Seek grants and non-diluitive funding in the early stages of your business
8. Be intentional about circulating the black dollar and invest in black businesses
9. Come to the table to collaborate, not ask
10. Open doors for others and bring the next generation with you
Congratulations to the @blinkequity team
@intuit_aan and @intuitcanada on hosting a successful and much needed event!
