Last Friday we hosted another 🔥 fireside chat as part of our BIST Catalysers programme—this time focused on a crucial topic: engaging with investors.
BIST Catalysers fellows, together with other participants, had the chance to hear directly from leading voices in venture capital and early-stage biotech investment.

✨ 🔭 The @desisurvey (Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument) has mapped more than 47 million #galaxies and #quasars, creating the largest high-resolution 3D map of our #universe to date.
Researchers use this map to explore #DarkEnergy, the fundamental ingredient that makes up about 70% of our universe and is driving its accelerating expansion.
The DESI team has traced dark energy’s influence over 11 billion years of cosmic history! 🌌
The international experiment brings together more than 900 researchers (including 300 PhD students) from more than 70 institutions, including the #BISTCommunity centre IFAE.
“DESI’s five-year survey has been spectacularly successful,” said Michael Levi, DESI director and a scientist at Berkeley Lab. “The instrument performed better than anticipated. The results have been incredibly exciting. And the size and scope of the map and how quickly we’ve been able to execute is phenomenal. We’re going to celebrate completion of the original survey and then get started on the work of churning through the data, because we’re all curious about what new surprises are waiting for us.”

The new cohort of "BIST Mothers of Science" came together for the 1st time last week with the coach @arantxagomezesque —opening a space for reflection, dialogue and support among these scientists and mothers.
Over the next weeks there will be more of these meetings to deepen the work on self‑leadership in demanding environments.

📢 Grounbreaking research just published!
Researchers at the #BISTCommunity Centre, Institute for Bioengineering for Catalonia @ibecbarcelona , the Polytechnic University of Catalonia – BarcelonaTech, and the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) have developed a new strategy for ‘programming’ the shape of biological tissues in vitro.
The research opens the door to new applications in tissue engineering, biohybrid robotics, and the design of smart living materials.
