We have some new faces around here so it’s time to (re)-introduce myself. If you found us from our #MidModRanch project featured in @archdigest - welcome! I’m Jennie, founder and principal of Bishop Studio. I’ve been designing interiors for two decades, most notably serving as co-founder and principal of Studio Gild for eleven years prior to launching Bishop Studio a little over three months ago. (Has it only been three months?!) My loves: my 13-year-old daughter, my patient partner Justin, paddle tennis, Summer, my good dog Didi and trusting clients. My pet peeves: too many to list! I’ll need to write a book. But one is “Can I have a junior designer and none of your attention?” Answer: No. We have a lot more Bishop Studio content on the way, including sneak peeks of our current projects (don’t sleep on our Highlights for the latest!) and some exciting announcements to come. The importance of a nook. Debuted in @archdigest and most recently featured in @livingetcofficial , our #MidModRanch project had beautiful bones in need of a thoughtful interiors update. To complement the curves of the swooping ceiling beams and fanned flooring, we installed a custom banquette and table just off the Japanese-inspired kitchen. The finishing touch? An ethereal @taiwanlatern pendant and @erika_dufour artwork. More before and afters from our #CityHaven project. We reconfigured the kitchen for more flexibility and flow while maintaining the original footprint. Dual islands add space for both meal prep, homework, and better circulation throughout. If you ever find yourself in the position to have a double-sided fireplace, this is your sign to say ‘yes.’ The reading room in our #CityHaven project was a new addition that not only expanded the footprint of the home, but drenched the adjoining spaces in light, too. Embracing the fresh fluidity, it was a natural step to open up the existing living room fireplace into two. After @lg__group and @deconstructarchitecture reconfigured the original stack, (which was no easy feat!) we finished the walls in creamy plaster with dramatic marble mantels. Dropping some before and afters from our #CityHaven project! The adjacent living and dining spaces were formally two small rooms separated by a partial wall structure that impeded light and overwhelmed the entrance. Opening up the floor plan, while adding new windows, allowed for much needed movement that worked with the existing layout without reinventing it. Just off the #CityHaven kitchen is a cozy family room meant for casual lounging and play.
